Honestly If Maloney is smart he picks Strome, sure he's not McDavid he's still a decent prospect.

Strome doesn't seem NHL ready immediately. His skating will hold him back a year or so.

Personally, I'd pick Hainfin and Marner over Strome. The fact that multiple scouts have said they'd pick Leon Draisaitl over him (both have skating issues) means he's a risky pick with a few years of development.

Where'd you hear this from? Quote?

LD has developed a good 200 foot game and made big strides in a lot of areas. He's better then Strome right now, but at draft day they look equal

Weird. Link to that? I've seen both play & Strome seems to be much more talented.

Yeah Strome is the better prospect compared to Draisaitl. Even though Draisaitl is a great prospect. I can't believe someone said that, unless it was on an Edmonton radio station or TV program.

Strome's PPG is much higher than LD as a 17 year old, compared to LD's 19 year old season this year. 1.9PPG vs. 1.6PPG. Strome is the clear cut better prospect.

LD might very well be the better NHL player, but as a prospect its clear Strome is further ahead.

Lol at edmonton fans already devaluing this kid because hes clearly who toronto is targeting now that the oilers will ruin mcdavid.

Rielly Percy and Finn. Project to be better NHL defenceman than nurse klefbom and marincin. See what I did there how does that feel lol

Strome plays on a stacked team with a generational talent.

LD plays on the third line and the PK (and scoring short-handed goals no less) and is still their top playoff scorer. In the series clinching game... they rested Leon for the last 7(?) minutes when they had a 5-2 lead.

I guess when Kelowna and SSM play in the Mem Cup final... people will finally see him :)

Nope... Even BEFORE the lottery, I didn't want the Oilers picking Strome. I wanted Hanifin or Marner.

I want good players who carry bad teams (Voracek) rather than good players on great teams (see Sam Gagner with Patrick Kane). That 2007 draft I want a redo on :)

Why the heck does Draisaitl play on the third line???

Who knows... maybe chemistry. He leads the team in scoring AND +/- in the playoffs. I guess he gets all the tough matchups. When he is on the ice, it's basically lopsided for Kelowna. I heard (via announcers) their PK allowed like 1 or 2 goals in 40 attempts which is elite/amazing... LD plays center on it.

Wasn't Gagner the lowest scoring forward on his line? Honestly, what the **** are you talking about?

I thought it was pretty clear as well. Strome is simply on a different level.

And Marner carried a bad team? Hanifin? Last I checked BC and London are powerhouses.

You pick guys like Voracek and Monohan (and to an extent LD) - who are elite on bad teams rather than players who get free points on stacked teams.

So what does that make hall Hopkins eberle and yakupov marincin Schultz ference pouliot Roy because they couldn't carry the oilers from picking mcdavid

It's very silly that some people are underestimating what Dylan Strome brings to the table. The kid has won the OHL scoring race for a reason. Yes I get that he played second fiddle to Connor McDavid, but couldn't the same be said about Leon Draisaitl? (being shielded)

If LD was in fact on the 3rd line, wouldn't that allow him more opportunity to produce offensively with Kelowna's first 2 lines receiving much better coverage from opposing teams top lines?

Personally, I would take either one of Leon Draisaitl or Dylan Strome because both look to have very solid NHL careers ahead of them, but to sell either one of them short would be a huge mistake.

You do realize LD's team is better than Strome's, right?

can't wait until next offseason to see if you're reasoning stays the same lol

because your other first overalls will be playing with a generational talent and they'll still suck

??

The whole point of a "prospect" is trying to decide how their games translate to the NHL . I really don't think Draisaitl has much offensive upside at the NHL though. They both are not that great of skaters.
