I could definitely see him going 3rd, ahead of Hanifin.

Nobody was expecting Barkov and Drouin to be drafted ahead of Jones.

IMO he still isn't the clear-cut next-best forward after McDavid and Eichel. I think someone needs to be that to wind up going before Hanifin. If he keeps it up he will probably be considered as such by most.

I know this is weird to say as a Canadian who wants us to have the best team at the WJC, but I really hope he doesn't make the squad so we can see how he does without McDavid around for a few weeks.
You were saying... if McDavid misses any time with this hand injury, there'll be an opportunity for Strome to seize.

Funny, was just going to bump this thread if McDavid was indeed hurt for a few weeks.

But yes, this would be Strome's team if McDavid is out and that's going to be a very nice test to see how good he is.

if strome/debrincat show little to no drop off in production could that hurt mcdavids stock? right now they are all 1, 2, 3 in scoring and a lot of that is due to mcdavid, but if the healthy members show no sign of slowing down while he is hurt, i could see eichel moving into the top spot. Either way Talent evaluators must see this mcdavid injury as a type of blessing because now they can see if strome is worthy of a top 5 pick or just a byproduct of a generational talent on his team

No way Eichel goes No 1. As it's been said, no GM wants to be known for passing on him. (For good reason). McDavids injury is huge for Erie. They're production of ~5 Goals per game will drop tremendously. Strome is interesting though. We'll see if he drops as No 1 C.

To me he looks like the clear cut next best forward after the top two forwards. Wouldn't take Barzal, Zacha, Marner, Connor etc over him. Next 5-6 weeks will be telling of what kind of player he really is.

Sportsnet is showing their game tonight vs Niagara.

Sportsnet East - Sportsnet Ontario and Sportsnet West have the game - Sportsnet Pacific is showing other programs before they show the Canucks-Coyotes game. (Guess they don't want to risk having the OHL game run past three hours?)

Here in the United States - we get the game on the NHL Network and its actually LIVE rather than on a one day delay -
We usually get a next morning/early afternoon showing.

Even though no McDavid - I'll be watching - after-all they are still a great team and its the OHL team I root for. Go Otters!

im pretty sure that anyone worth the time reading knows he's not a byproduct of McDavid. It really is getting to be a tiresome suggestion.

I think he played a solid game tonight.

Some great passes (there was one in the final minute while down 2-1 that was terrific but the Erie player could not finish) and the hockey sense is evident.

The lack of explosion in his skating stride is kind of scary though if you are taking him top 5.

Really? I think he was too much of a passenger for what is supposed to be a top 5 pick. You're spot on about his skating, was not impressive at all even on his breakaway.

I wonder if the Oilers would take Strome at 3rd-5th overall..
Hopkins, Draisatl, and Strome could be dominant in a few years..shift one of them to the Wing on the Powerplay.

Strome is essentially a Draisaitl reincarnation.

Big strong offensive centers with elite hockey sense but poor skating.
