I guess there is a strong Rashomon effect here haha. The main reason why I said I wasn't impressed is that it seemed to me that when Gauthier had the puck in the offensive zone the play seemed to die often, he doesn't seem to pick the optimal decision with the puck when he has it. But yet again I'm not a scout, I watch the game for having fun I don't take notes on players and sometimes I'm least attentive I might have missed something

The comment about Smith and Perreault not being noticeable, yet again I strongly disagree. Perreault (maybe apart from Hutson) was the most dangerous player with the puck, he generates so much scoring chances. Same for Smith, buy it's less surprising
Smith, Perreault and leonard play together at BC on the 2nd line. Gauthier is on 1st line with different linemates at World’s. Not surprised he is not clicking as much.

Larger ice might be an issue too.

But the guy is scoring at every level (U17, U18 National teams, World juniors (2), NCAA (2 yrs), even at Mens Worlds) so you should not worry but do not expect some fancy iceskating from him.

I don't see how the big ice does anything but help him. I think that's probably why we are seeing more of a playmaking side from him in this tournament. More time and space to access, especially on the halfwall of the PP - wider passing lanes, teams more passive to press along the boards, etc. The pace of games are also naturally slower on the bigger sheets.

I’ve found Nazar and Casey to be USA’s most dangerous players. Casey was especially electric against Finland - every touch led to a chance.

Congrats Cutter.... lucky HF posters weren't selecting the top forward.... some comments on here made you seem like the bust of the tournament.....love when people's preconceived bias gets thrown in their faces....Kid can't play center...kid is lazy...kid can't pass the puck...well top forward of the tourney on the best team deserves congrats.....maybe he still becomes a bust but this couple weeks he proved the nay sayers wrong...keep it up Cutter!

No need to rush him: full season in Lehigh wouldnt hurt.

Habs fan here living in Philly, FWIW, if a top prospect like Gauthier did not even make the effort to meet with Danny Briere and the staff on multiple occasions, then I think it's such a red flag and I'm more than happy to have Jamie Drysdale. Drysdale is a stud and will become such a tremendous right handed PMD for you guys and with Michkov in the pipeline, Flyers should be excited.

Anyone have any idea why he didn't want to play in Philly?

I would have understood if it was Ottawa or Arizona for example, but Philly being a big market and all this is a bit weird to me.
Word on the street is when they wanted to sign him last year at the end of the NCAA season, he wanted guaranteed NHL games to burn the first year of his ELC and the Flyers wouldn't guarantee it. Ever since then it's been down hill

If this is really the case he’s really not happy going the forever rebuild Ducks

Either fanbase freaking out yet? Let me know where to turn to look, I have my popcorn ready.

Philly board is hilarious. A couple fans are mad at Gauthier but a bunch of posters have taken Gauthier scorning them and used it as an excuse to criticize their organization. You would think it would be something that galvanizes the fanbase but no, lol

Flyers HF has hated everything the team has done for like 3 years, it's no real surprise.
