I wonder if Bedard will end with 3 ppg in his draft year o_o
Unlikely. Typically teams end up hoping the player will work on his overall game instead of just racking up points and they plateau a bit points wise. Many expected Tavares to do the same after his 16 year old season but never happened

poor snipes! desperate to get this pandemic behind us and take in a game! I feel ya, man! I feel ya.

Lol I’m sure we’ll see him lots over the years.

Great news for him with the U-18s. I believe only McDavid and Tavares are the only two others?

Edit: @barabas21 beat me to it. Yeah, only two to make it as 15 year olds before Bedard.

Watching the game. Brandon is really good but man Bedard makes things happen out there and that was a great pass

Just picked up another primary assist. 11 game point streak now continues to begin his WHL career.

20 points in 11 games. Beautiful pass, the reverse angle shows how he threaded the needle there. High hockey IQ type read and pass there.

That type of snap-pass is one the NHL’s elite playmakers make. I’ve seen Panarin make that pass many times. Very few will try it though. Only the elite playmakers attempt it.

So is he gonna be better than McDavid yes or no

This is a bad year to read the strength of the WHL and make any comparisons, it's also a shortened schedule. Most likely quite a few players are still rusty from lack of game action. Bedard at least played somewhere else this year

I wonder if McDavid influenced him to take the #98 like Gretzky influenced Lemieux to take #66.

Yeah, Tavares would be the youngest to ever play for Team Canada at the U18s. 15 years 7 months. approx. assuming that the tournament was in April '06. seems IIHF has purged their archive.

McDavid's tournament I remember vividly. He was 16 years 3 months approx.

Bedard will be 15 years 9 months approx. I'm not looking for him to be tournament MVP and lead the tournament in points like McDavid did. If he comes somewhere in between McDavid's 14 pts and Tavares's 5 pts - I'll be happy.

Bedard named to Team Canada for IIHF U18 World Championship – Regina Pats

His final game for the Pats will be April 9, sad to see his season cut short. He probably would have led the league in scoring.

IF the Pats somehow make the playoffs without him, maybe he can play. But with all the quarantines he has to do, it's a tight schedule.

Due to this he won’t finish with the scoring lead but it’s crazy to think he had a good chance to lead the WHL in points at his age.

I wonder if he just continues and torches the U18s as well?

He probably will, with Shane Wright as his possible linemate. This U-18 team is pretty stacked.

But my take is, could this tournament be delayed? Possibly until after the WHL season is over? Sending him to Texas is like sending him into the Lion's den. He's gonna have to quarantine before and after the tournament.

It's great he gets to represent Canada but it's not like he won't have future tournaments.

As a Canadian with a residence in Texas I can (happily or unhappily depending on your persuasion) report that absolutely everything is open here currently and masks only seem to be a “strong suggestion”, so I have full confidence the tournament will go ahead
