Tavares is one of the greatest pre draft players ever.

If you axe the first 10 games of their seasons (Tavares 27 points) and Bedard (10 points), it’ll be interesting to see who finishes with the better clip. Bedard’s slow start makes closing the actual gap impossible.

Keep in mind the 10 month age gap in draft -1 seasons.
That's why I also posted his 16 year old numbers Tavares put up only 14 points at the start of his 16 year old season in the first 10 games. Finished at 2 points per game.

What are you trying to prove here? Tavares was an outrageous phenom as a prospect. So much so that his NHL career which has been defined as a franchise leading superstar center almost seems a mild disappointment. The way JT processes the game offensively is peerless.

Bedard is a different animal though. His skill set seems tailor made for the NHL from the ridiculous shot to incredible speed and edge work and ability to just bamboozle defenders with a mix of all-world skill. He’s not McDavid in a pure physical speed sense and he’s not JT in a pure “slows the game down” sense but in a way he can do some of both IMO. And it’s this combination of skill, speed and deception that makes Bedard pretty incredible and makes any statistical comparisons vis-a-vis projections to the NHL fairly irrelevant. Regardless - what he is doing is special.

He’s an OHL homer and is so shook the the WHL has a prospect being mentioned in the same breath as McDavid and Tavares.

Tavares wasn't really viewed as generational at his draft date (the tier below) nor was he really ever viewed that way. When scouts were polled at the beginning of the 2006/07 season, most favored Stamkos.

Tavares was more a man at 16 though, right? Bedard is still a chubby cheeked boy. There is no way to compare the two at this age. What i cob see is similar lack of explosive skating. JT is still that way, but Bedard will physically mature.

I honestly couldn't care where a prospect is from. Whether it's Latvia, Calgary or the GTA when it comes to prospects. But, nice projecting on to other people. If I was an OHL homer, wouldn't I be defending Wright?

His production was considered "generational" even if he wasn't as a prospect. If you are trying to argue that Bedard isn't generational, his overall numbers so far in W, and his performance at the U18s and in WJCs are close to it. He certainly seems deserving of the "Next One" musings.

As far as I can tell, only one player ahead of him in W scoring has a better PPG and he now has the best GPG.

Just watched the highlights, every highlight for the Pats involved Bedard except for one. If it hadn't been for the Hitmen goalie, he would have had more than 5 points.

Never worried about his lack of scoring earlier in the season. Since being put on a line with Howe and Valis, he's just exploded.
I would love to hear from the stat watchers who were worried about earlier in the year. Pretty quiet now that he is out of his funk. I'm pretty sure Pavel Buchnevic deleted his account over his bad takes on Bedard, @GeorgeLeafer12 is pretty quiet on the Bedard nightly stat recaps and doesn't have much shooting advice anymore, and I'm pretty sure the Russian's haven't gotten out of bed since Michkov slowed WAY down and Bedard heated up. Love to see some accountability.

My favourite of all is 3 weeks ago @McFlash97 saying there is no chance Bedard will finish at 1.5 points per game.... getting pretty close with a lot of games let.

I noticed that as well lmao thought I somehow ended up on a Bedard highlight video for a sec

Has only been held off the scoresheet once in the past 15 games, on a pretty weak team too. 18 goals, 19 assists in those 15 games. As good as he was last year, he’s much better this year, just creating dangerous offence so, SO consistently.

Yeah, all 3 goals were snipes, and he was generating great chances basically every time he stepped on the ice. Dominant performance.

You must have a lot of time on your hands.

I don’t know which are worse: your takes on Bedard or the fact you think Savoie is going to challenge for the Art Ross with a couple seasons lol.

Oh snap. You got me good. Yes I think Savoie will one day be in the Art Ross running, and Bedard won't get to 1.5 this year. Oh shit hot take ! Some HF fanboys :help:

I was more referring to his position in the scoring race to me he would have to be in the top ten point leaders despite his 6 games missed for me to personally call him a generational prospect even though I still see him near that

this is so arbitrary lmao. Great username though
