Who's his comparable in regards to style of play?

Derek Stepan, Ryan Kesler, Ryan Callahan

Good two way players that play with jump. I've seen him play and I don't see the Bergeron comparison other than he is good defensively they don't play a similar style IMO.

I don't think he will have Kesler's skating ability, or Callahan's physicality and pesky-ness. Stepan is a good comparison. Kyle Turris is not a bad one either, although I expect White to be more physically engaged and even more of a 200 ft. player. Turris is a better skater, but White might have better hands and be more cerebral. White can be better, but I think turning out like Stepan or Turris would be just barely sub-optimal for him. I also think Ryan O'Reilly is a pretty good comparison for him. No top-line skills, but pretty good at basically everything, average or better in absolutely everything, and much smarter than almost every other guy on the ice. He also seems like he will be a really good faceoff guy. He's posted very impressive numbers for a freshman (I believe I read >54% somewhere).

Maybe he won't have Kesler's speed, but White finished first at the draft combine in both agility right and left, which was very impressive.

Another player that has me salivating at what he could become....

We'll see how he does at the upcoming WJC's on a stacked U.S. team. I'd expect Canada (and the rest of the teams) sees a lot of this guy in the faceoff dots and PK. Should be on their 2nd powerplay unit as well....

When Ottawa picked him over Konecny I was a bit skeptical but White has been very impressive.

Whitey with a shorty tonight. 9 game pt streak

White, Colin 14 gp 8 g 14 a 22 pts

I love Tim Murray, but Robin Lehner better pan out. Missing out on this year's Larkin is always going to sting a bit otherwise. Great Pick by the elder Murray.

Gives him 27 pts in (11g 16a) 17 GP 1.59

Really think White is going to be a dandy.

Just behind Kyle Connor.... ;)

I really wanted White with one of the Jets 1st rounders last year. Was bummed out when the Sens took him before the Jets' 2nd pick. I'm imagining having Connor and White in our prospect list.... wow.

I really like Kyle Connor too. Was surprised he fell as far I figured he'd go in the top 12-13. He is a real good pick and should have been with team USA imo.

I really wanted to see White and Connor on a line together, top freshmen in the NCAA.

Blaaahhhh, damn you USA hockey.

Ah well, have to wait till the Olympics in 2022 :naughty:

Best thing that happened to White this year was Bracco leaving.

Best thing for BC too. White was thrusted into more playing time and the team hasn't looked back since. This kid is amazing.

Couple of things I want to point out from last night.

This pass, absolutely filthy. Talk about threading the needle:

Absolutely love this trait, passes the puck and the first thing he does is make a beeline to the front of the net. Not all 18 year olds drive the net:

All 3 of his goals last night were dirty area goals. I love it.

White is such a team guy. Unselfish. IMO it was a mistake to play him with Matthews. White being the team guy looks for the best opportunity to succeed and more often then not that was to get Matthews the puck and let the offence flow through him. IMO it limited White's overall effectiveness in the WJC. Just a thought could be wrong.

Another goal and assist

30 points in 21 games +21

How many points can he continue producing until we realize he has potential to be star in NHL.

Not to mention we are talking about a guy who's known for his excellent 2 way game and has NHL ready size and body.

Scores the most dirty goals of any player I've ever seen, haha. Really fast and smart. Think he'll be a better NHL player than Connor. However, I don't think either has the upside of Dylan Larkin just because they have a lot of points. Larkin had that power, confidence and shooting ability that you could see was special even in college.

I like what I see from Colin White. I think Larkin and likely Connor are more dynamic explosive players.

That said . White has been really consistent. He plays the PK and gets PP time. He is a good player that seems to do everything you ask. He gets in lanes, steals the puck, puts his body in the right position, plays both ends of the rink and he gets his points consistently.

23 GP 15 G 18 A 33 PTs... 2nd in NCAA Div1 Freshmen scoring; Leads BC

If he can develop his 1 on 1 skills and his shot(release) he is top 6 NHL material.

He could probably play 3rd line now.

He's turning out to be one of those players that will likely will turn out to be one of the better players picked in the 2015 draft. I had him at #18 last year. He's looking like a very good pick with lots of value for Ottawa. He's a really good hockey player.
