Are we in Canada paranoid about 2026 or should we not be worried?

Canada's issues remain the same. The key thing is whether some of the big prospects from recent years (and those to come) can really hit and become legitimate star players. The four nations event had the same result as the 2010 Olympics in the general sense (I am aware that the tournament in 2010 had more teams etc.) but there is a big difference, namely that in 2025 Canada and USA are close in terms of quality of the roster, in 2010 Canada's roster was much better regardless of the outcome. Still lots of progress to be made.

There are fairly credible rumours that Cassidy and DeBoer were significantly against Thompson being on the four nations team based on their time with him in Las Vegas. As Canada is poor in goaltending right now, this kind of thing is not acceptable. Canada will need to take its best goaltenders in 2026, and that may or may not mean Thompson.

He could, I guess. sure. but he really shouldn't. If he wants to make any case for condideration for the team going to Italy next year, then he needs to show up.

I fully expect him there. If he is serious about the 2026 Olympic team then a big 2025 iihf world championship is his biggest chance to stake his claim, unless he completely goes off to start the next regular season.

What is wrong with McDavid?... AND Edmonton? :(

McDavid with 2 points but he looks a little "off".

I have a block of ice at the bottom corner of my driveway that will NOT break...

I added salt. LOTS of salt!
I poured boiling hot water on it.
I took a spade to it.
It is 13 degrees C outside.

And it's still like concrete. Grrrrr.

Watching Chicago / Connor Bedard against Ottawa...

If his energy level isn't zero, it's close to it. I can see why he is pointless since the break.

I'm hoping the game goes into O.T. so I can see him 3 on 3.

**

Game went into O.T. but didn't last long. Stutzle kicked it in.

The Blackhawks are a MESS. What an awful team.

**

On the plus side, Bedard's faceoff abilities appeared to have gotten better - but then I looked to see that his faceoff percentage has actually regressed in year 2. Oy.

McDavid taking it easy in the regular season. Finals, 4nations playing full season, it has to be insanely draining. Leave it to Drai this year.

Also I have no doubts he brings home Gold next year. Team Canada will ice a better roster and he will be fully prepared this time.

Shane Wright with his 15th.

I would LOVE to see the kid get to 20 but...

He'll may finish the season at 0.65PPG - not bad for a kid average less than 14 minutes a game.

Since November, his stats...

45 Games Played, 14 Goals, 22 Assists, 0.8PPG

Well done, young man !!!!

Fantilli with a hat trick. He now has 21 goals in his 20th year.
Is 30 goals too much to ask?

I would LOVE to see this kid take off.

**

After being ICE cold to start the season, Quinton Byfield has his 14th.

I LOVE the 2020 draft for Canada but he and LAF are MAJOR disappointments.

**

Seth Jarvis with his 25th - all be it an Empty Net goal.

**

Logan Stankoven with his 10th - Rookie Of The Year????

**

LAF heating up a BIT. Perhaps he gets to 45 points.
Oy. :(

Thomas Harley is really coming into his own. Wow.
So happy he decided to play for Canada.

GP : 62
Goals : 12
Assists : 27
Points : 39

+ / - : +25

Adam Fantilli since Monahan got hurt and he moved up to 1C:

•22 games

•12 goals
•10 assists

•CBJ up 15-3 in the 233 5v5 minutes he's played with Marchenko and Voronkov

Bedard has 113pts. in 132 GP

For Context (OTHER 1st Overall Picks):
Mackinnon: 98pts. in 132 GP
J. Hughes: 66pts. in 132 GP
McDavid: 151pts. in 132 GP
Matthews: 114pts. in 132 GP
Lafreniere: 50pts. in 132 GP
Kane: 118pts. in 132 GP
Hischier: 85pts in 132 GP
Tavares: 92pts. in 132 GP
Stamkos: 100pts. in 132 GP

All of these players had great supporting casts in their first 2 seasons. Bedard is playing the most minutes of his ECHL team and you can tell he's EXHAUSTED. He's playing fantastic and anyone who thinks he does not deserve a shot for the Olympic Team, should shake their head.

I actually think Bedard is going to be that great of a player because people are considering his play to be below-expectations. It's like we already have such a high bar for him. If this is bad, boy oh boy, is the league in for a treat from Mr. Bedard
