I have to say, everything I have read about them has made me pretty excited.

Trying to keep my expectations in check though.

It's nice to have an unexpected surprise like Perron too not to mention Gagne and Chlapik are still in the wings. The prospect pool has firmly been restablished

Chabot is gonna be a star imo, and White will at worse be an all-round number two C.

These two the most impressive players Ottawa has drafted in awhile.

Goal and two helpers for White tonight against U Conn

That makes 20 points in 12 games, and 17 points in his last 7 games

Unreal start for the kid.

1.67 Pts / Game
57.7% Faceoff Wins (112 and 82)
4.08 SOG/Gp

Pretty impressive for a Freshman that got off to a bit of a slow start

Bostonian here...and while I am a BU fan, I get to see BC 5 or so times a year. Colin White is as advertised, but keep in mind, BC is stacked this year. White and Fitzgerald have developed a lot of chemistry together both 5 on 5 and on the PP. I don't mean to downplay White's productivity...but keep in mind, scoring is not usually an issue when you play on one of BC's top two lines.

He has 20 pts in 12 games, which leaves a lot of room for any down-playing.

There were questions about his offensive ability, so even if you call him a PPG player, that is a huge, pleasant surprise for his freshman season.

I was really hoping the Leafs would be able to nab him with their late first. Looks like he's off to a great start.

Scoring at that age, at this rate and in this conference is not easy. I'm not trying to play it up (as it stands, the numbers are doing that for me) but it does take a certain caliber of player to make a seamless adjustment to the NCAA produce at such a high rate.

White is scoring at 1.66 right now (20 points in 12 GP). I don't expect it to stay that high as the season goes on and teams adjust to him but here is a list of players who scored at high rates in their 18 year old seasons since 2000.

Eichel 1.78
Schwartz 1.57
Parise 1.56
Heatley 1.47
Cammalleri 1.45
Vanek 1.38
Jessiman 1.38
Toews 1.35
Larkin 1.34
Kessell 1.31
Schroeder 1.29

For those familiar with White and the NCAA, does he compare well with any of these guys?

You have been pumping his tires for a while now but it seems he is living up to your hype. No offense but this description just doesnt seem possible for a player that has dropped to 21st haha. Too good to be true... This years Larkin perhaps?

Read the article - that is exactly who they compare him to in the article. I do pump his tires because he should have never fallen to 21st (mono/wrist injury) and he is proving just that.

I've been saying this since before the draft. Had him in my top 10. He has fantastic athletic tools to go with relentless determination.

Ah, that explains the lack of contract. If he keeps producing like he has thus far, we might just see him in the NHL next year.

Yep. To clarify the rules for you - NCAA players are allowed to play their entire collegiate career before becoming free agents - so, a guy who is drafted and then plays his post-draft season as a college freshman is able to play four years after being drafted before he must be signed. If a player IS signed, they are considered a professional and are not allowed to play in the NCAA.
