You don't have to like Bettman, but deliberately being a dick to the guy who oversees your likely place of employment seems both stupid and juvenile. Wonder if his manager/team President had a quite word in his ear afterwards

He shook Bettman's hand when he walked up to the podium. I think he was caught off guard not expecting it was Bettman at the end of the line, so when he saw him he probably thought " wait I already shook your hand" and awkwardly pulled back.

Overheard at Gary Bettman's next phone conference with the NHLOA

"So make sure to keep doing what you're doing for Chicago guys. We've really got to get those big market jerseys off the shelves. Oh, and one more thing, there's this kid, Colin White... make sure you make up a lot of calls on him.... uh huh.... no, make up like call invisible penalties against him... not like give him a bunch of make up calls... yeah, right, give him the 'small-town-in-the-playoffs special.'"

Also overheard in the same phone call:

"Keep making those Blues players forget how to win games in the playoffs, it's fun watching them choke every year so I can root on my beloved Blackhawks to another Stanley Cup."

White obviously felt good about it as he retweeted one of the clips of it.

He suffered through Mono along with numerous other injuries throughout the year. Ottawa fans are going to love this pick. Think Patrice Bergeron and this years Dylan Larkin.

Yup, heard the exact same thing from a buddy of mine who watched him play. Style of play and even numbers almost identical to one another, said White could even have higher offensive ability since he also battled with illness but put up the numbers he did.

If he puts up Larkin type numbers next year, home run. You could tell they are the same since Detroit and Ottawa draft very similarly.

Exactly. Since he went for the handshake, Bettman started to oblige then White realized and pulled back. It's funny but people who think it was some snubbing... :shakehead

Great pick for the Sens. I'd rather have him than Lehner even if the Sabres don't really need another young two-way forward at this point.

He's just a kid. In front of the entire world. Nervous. Suggesting he was snubbing Bettman is just silly.

Apparently hes a/was a pitt fan and made a tweet mocking the sens losing to them in the playoffs a few years ago:laugh: to bad hes deleted it

He shook Bettmans hand on the way up. If you watch he looked at Bergman and said something along the lines of we just shook and Bettman said yes and smiles and white being nervous turned away. The whole thing is funny but really stupid. Colin White is one of the classiest nicest kids you can meet and anyone who has ever coached him or played with him attests to that. All of these guys are just kids. Sens are thrilled with this pick. Ottawa got two talented guys in the first round.

What kind of totals you guys see him put up? When he came over for development he really stood out skill wise, great skater and puck movement.

I am a Sens fan, but from what I've seen of Chabot and White so far ( compared to other older players ) they got steals.

Do you guys think he goes PPG?

Bergeron-Turris mold imo.

Dude has such an underrated offensive game.

I think this is spot on, I agree with Turris a bit more than Bergeron just because Bergeron is such a special defensive player but I totally agree with his offensive upside. Headed into his draft year, White was widely viewed as a top 10 pick because of his special offensive talent. He then contracted mono, tried to come back too early because its such an important year and his statistics suffered accordingly. He is already skating on BC's top line, getting 1st team PP minutes along with Ryan Fitzgerald and Miles Wood. Very impressive indeed and Ottawa will be very excited to have drafted him at #21 given his skill set.

So under the radar it is a joke..this kid is going to be a solid solid player.

Such pleasant words to hear

A lot of Sens fans (myself included) were pretty upset about passing on Konecny, twice..

I will say, the people that have seen white and like him, seem to LOVE him.

Really hoping that White proves to me again why our scouting staff is always 1 step ahead of popular opinion.

Another 1+1 last night against Maine gives him 4+6=10 in 8 games. 31 SOG and a +11. Great numbers for a freshman. Can any BC fans let us know if he's been as impressive as the stats show?

From the BC Eagles Hockey Blog

vs Maine
Colin White was BC's best forward for a second consecutive game, recording a goal and an assist which catapults him into the team points lead (10). He plays a very intelligent brand of hockey and is proving to be an invaluable asset on both the power play and penalty kill.

White is budding into a superstar. Obviously I am biased but if you ask me, we have the top three players in this league in Demko, Wood, and White.

vs UMass
Thanks to a four point night from Colin White, Boston College defeated UMass 7-0, earning their first Hockey East victory and fourth shutout in five games, something that has never been done in program history. It is BC's seventeenth victory in their past eighteen home games vs Massachusetts.

First of all, I thought White was certainly their best player tonight. Obviously, the four points are what stand out in the box score but he made a couple of tremendous plays in his own zone that helped keep UMass off the board. Late in the first period, UMass forced a neutral zone turnover that resulted in what appeared to be a two on one but White turned on the jets and picked the guy's pocket, ending any threat.
