I think he's a better prospect than Andersson.
At this point much more mature, assertive and confident. In 3-4 years who knows but right now he's flying up and down the ice like a guy who's been in the league for 5 years plus.

I’m glad you rags fans have a couch who ain’t afraid to play youngs who deserve it

He’s been one of the best players on the team through 4 games. We all that Chytil or Andersson would be the guy but Howden might end up the best of the three. NYR-Tampa trade look like a solid deal for both sides.

He's been good enough that I'm surprised I haven't seen a "What would it take to get him" thread 0r a Bern thread with a dozen players moving preaching the values of selling him high.

Chytil needs to perform to be rewarded. He has been very meh

I don’t agree. I don’t want our players to be held accountable. We saw this doesn’t work with AV. We aren’t good anyway. Why should a rebuilding team not be giving their best NHL ready prospects proper minutes, line mates and situations?

Besides, Chytil has two points in four games playing low minutes. I don’t think that’s so bad.

I think in Chytil’s case they’re consciously easing him into the NHL. I don’t think he’s quite used to the speed of it yet. He’s not ultra consistent shift to shift, but I think when he is, he’ll start getting more minutes

Yes, let them do whatever the hell they please.
Why do you think "being held accountable" didn't work under AV?
Couldn't it be that he held some more accountable than others, Mr. PAVEL BUCHNEVICH?

Holding players accountable means holding everyone accountable to the same degree, not cutting some slack to your favorites while punishing other players for the exact same mistakes.

Seriously, you should know a lot better than this given your username.

I’m not saying Chytil is doing great and I never thought he would be a Calder Contender this season, but I want him getting 15-17 per game in the top 9 with PP time, whether he deserves it or not. Some might disagree, but that’s what I want to see.

We are a rebuilding team. Results don’t matter this season. We’d be stupid to make such quick game to game changes on form.

The coach and management should get together and decide who plays around how many minutes and their role. This should be done at the start of the season and it should be stuck to during the season within reason.

That doesn’t mean giving free passes to veterans. I think the point of doing this would be that you wouldn’t do that. You’d be developing the young players in the side.

Ask the Oilers , Sabres and Coyotes if "winning doesn't matter".

An important part of developing players is to teach them what it takes to win and not show them complacency when losing as in "oh it's okay, we are still learning, losing is fine".

If you implement that attitude you run a very high risk of infecting your locker room with the dreaded loser mentality.

It hasn't gone past me that the Rangers are rebuilding, I expect terrible results but I also expect accountability when it appears certain players are on the verge of mailing it in.

Development is not linear and a coach needs to be careful that he doesn't teach the wrong attitude, holding players accountable equally is a good thing. Holding only some players accountable, like AV did is flatout dumb. Holding NO ONE accountable is suicide for any coach.

It's easy to tell from this one line you've never been involved in any team ever. What a silly statement.
