Id rather move Zib to wing and keep Chytil at C. Really like Hayes but we’d pretty much have to move him

Not a bad idea. Zibs scoring ability and shot could translate very well on the wing. I know Expectations maybe higher because he was a first round pick but Chytil could be the perfect #3c

Good draft for them to have 3 1sts considering it's said to be Dman-heavy, and it seems that's clearly where their biggest weakness is moving forward

I was thinking the same thing. We have 2 picks but 3 picks is obviously a lot better. I’m high on this draft. Especially like you said with the Defense. As for the Rangers I’m not as high on Hijak as some but he should be an NHL defensemen. The player they got that I love is Ryan Lindgren. Sucks that I have to hate him now lol

Every time I've watched him he's impressed me.

I think he'll be in that Kyle Turris tier of centres in the league. Just under the franchise guys but capable of being a 1c.

Haha oddly enough I completely agree on this. Lindgren has been a prospect I've always felt was underappreciated, while Hajek is someone I never really got the hype on

Hajek did look really good in the WJC so that’s a plus. I just think Foote was the guy they had to get.

I was thinking Chytil at 1C. Definitely has the upside to be it

Not sure why when it was reported Yzerman wouldn't even put Foote on the table for Erik Karlsson that anyone would think he'd be available at all, or even consider it an option to get him.

Hajek is gonna be a player. Howden is gonna be a player. This was a good deal for NYR.

I really like Howden.. I think its possible he will be more valuable than Lias Andersson within 2-3 years. If not more , equally valuable

Big fan of him as well. He kind of reminds me of Bo Horvat, plays the game the right way and can have an impact all over the ice.

Right now Chytil seems to be the best C out of the bunch, he's not being converted to wing. He's already ahead of the Andersson on the depth chart in Hartford, he's been that good there. If anything Zib could shift to right wing which might actually be better for him overall, less defensive responsibility, focus on being the shooter he is.

I think he can be Jordan Staal like. An absolute elite 3C on a team but if asked to be a 1C on another fail hard and settle in as a good 2C. Think his offense settles in like Staal as a constant 20g 40+ points that can hit 50 but not good enough to be consistently scoring there or reach 60. Defensive game is good, not quite as good as Staal though.

I think because people thought that was a negotiating tactic. On it's face its pretty ridiculous to say Foote is a stopper on a deal for Karlsson. Even for McD, say NYR was 100% invested in Foote and was willing to do a 1 for 1 - he's still not on the table? That's be pretty insane imo.

Happy with what we got ultimately anyway, would rather not have put all the eggs in one basket.

You're telling me, man. When I saw those reports coming out that it was guys like Namestnikov and Foote possibly blocking a deal on EK I was ready to mutiny.

Yzerman gets way too much credit. He's the most overrated GM in hockey IMO. His team missed the playoffs the past 2 years. Find me another GM whose teams did that and gets his butt kissed.

If you're gonna swoop in with those kind of hot takes, please, for the love of God at least know what in the hell you're talking about.
