I don't understand how he is so dominant on the draw. Not sure I've seen a 19 year old player be able to do that in my life...

I don't understand how it's possible, either.

Faceoffs are usually one of the last things to come to a young center. But he's absolutely destroying guys like Getzlaf and Toews with 5 games of NHL experience.

All I can think is that perhaps taking face-offs is a bit like goaltending, and Bo has the book on everyone's tendencies, and the Getzlaf's of the world don't yet have a read on Bo. I have no idea if it works that way, but it's my best guess.

I'm calling it now (because really early predictions are fun). Bo Horvat becomes one of the best 2nd line centres in the league within 3 years.

Nobody said he's going to be Toews.

I did, and considering he's the first prospect since Linden to get 3 points as a teenager, no one can really dispute that projection.

Went 9th could have gone 5th, Toews went 3rd, seems beyond plausable

Flames fan here

Thought Horvat was a great pick. Sometimes you can't draft purely for offence. Sometimes your best player isn't the most offensive player on your team. Guys like Horvat help you win. I still see him (barring a better draft pick between now and when the Sedins retire, or a trade) as the future captain. He is captain material.

Will he be a high-scoring 1st liner? I don't think so, but who knows. I do think he will be an incredibly valuable player for the next decade.

I hate Van not only because they are rivals (and fricken' have the Flames' number all the time, but hopefully that will change soon!), but because I really can't stand a lot of their players (more of the past). Burrows and Bieksa I can't stand. Kesler I hated. Cooke. Ruutu, etc. Just too many of those 'aggravating' guys, and I thought not enough of those great character guys.

Horvat is one of those great character guys that rivals respect and even admire. Like Linden and Iginla (safe to say, both rival fan bases respected those players). Think he will be a great player, and hate that you guys drafted him.

Lol I feel the same way that you do. Horvat becoming the next Toews is not a common opinion among Canucks fans at all.

inb4 I told you so, 23-9 against Kesler Getzlaf Toews, has made passes like this his entire career, can't ask for a better shot.

Vision and hockey sense beyond comprehension. Clearly anyone saying the same about Giroux or Weber in their drafts are fools as well ;p

If Bo freaking Horvat's hockey sense is beyond your comprehension then I would suggest you never watch any of the elite players of today to avoid the very likely occurance of your brain exploding.

No one said anything like this about Weber in his draft year (ok, maybe his grandmother) because he was a ****** offensive player at the time.

For posters who don't visit the Canucks board often, this kind of opinion is not even close to our consensus of Horvat.

Please ignore.

Brian is a HOF'er; one of the truly elite players of his era, who could contend for scoring championships and won 4 Cups.

1 week ago ago, the overwhelming majority of Canuck observers felt like Bo needed to go back to junior. Now, he's somehow as good as Brian Trottier, but with better wheels???

Bo is one 5/13 in the face off dot game away from people in Vancouver screaming "I knew he should have been sent back to junior; Benning is an idiot..."

Yeah but those were the high scoring 80's, if Trottier played today he'd only be a 60 point guy so the comparison is totally valid! ;)

Bo's been great, but it's best not to project a guys offense after he just had a 3+ game. Right now adjusting to 82 games he projects to a 41 point season, but will probably only end up with 10-20 points if he plays the rest of the way on the 4th line.

Hes been specifically practicing faceoffs since he was 14 years old. The scouting report on him specifically mentioned his defensive acumen and his faceoff ability.

Canucks made a very good trade to get him.

I still would have picked Nichuskin though

Ok there ,

even at the Canucks.com main websites forum, no Canucks fans have compared him to Toews. NOT ONE.

it's another battle right now, there are the Canucks fans who think he should stick, and there are ones that think he is better off going back to Junior for one more year. I am for that, because he's been ok, up until the last 2 games, he was very good, but we all know... there is 82 games.

I still would have picked Nichuskin though

Actually a lot of Canucks wanted us to pick Nichuskin also. Canucks fans have on going battles with each other.

Jake Virtannen situation too. It's Nylander vs Virtannen

Really? If I was given the option of taking Nuke and Nylander or Horvat and Virtanen i'll take the latter. These guys have better 2-way games and help you win in key situations. They aren't one dimensional offensive forwards! They win face-offs, defend well, check/hit, fight, and score. The other two are really gifted players, but i'd prefer a more well rounded forward.

Love Bo and Jake. Solid pick, Nuck fans.

Thanks, we made them all by ourselves.

If he can finish the season somewhere between 25-30 points it will be a very solid first NHL season for Bo.

I have really liked what I have seen from him in terms of just solid overall play.

The over exaggeration in this one is strong. :help:

Willie Dejarstache is the most extreme optimist and least-objective person you'll ever see in Canucks land. He is not representive.
