Looked extremely well in his first game. Was always on the puck, did a great job reading the play, ALMOST had a goal and was 8 for 12 in the circle.

Impressive first game.

I personally expect him to be sent back down.

9 minutes of ice time is really not that much of developement. sure he was beastly on the faceoffs, in the long term it will be better for him. If you look at his statistics dating back to the Canucks, Jets Flames, Oilers Young stars game, he only has 1 point in his last 12 games. he went pointless in the young stars game, he had one goal in 4 pre season games, and he has 0 points in 4 ahl games.

1 goal in his past 12 games, lets not even count the memorial cup, were he didn't get a single point.

So I think it's best Horvat gets sent back down to London. Give team Canada another good player they can use to grab a gold medal.

I think he does too.

He looks ready defensively, and he doesn't look lost at all.

But I still think having the year in the OHL, and another year in the AHL will build up his offensive game, and build him up as a person as well.

there is actually someone at canucks.com that follows the Utica Comets, his comments on Horvats play down there, was average at best. He wasn't great, nor did he stand out in anyway. He wasn't bad or anything but expected more, (because of draft position, expectations etc etc).

He will probably get a couple more games, and send him down. It's the best way for him to go. Alex Burrows will be back soon anyways.

If he can play like that regularly, he should stay. He was used in the AHL like he would be on the Canucks - He wasn't given top minutes or linemates so the lack of points is understandable, plus last year really has nothing to do with now. Bo doesn't need points to be useful, which is the perfect way to bring him into the NHL: without offensive expectations. I'm under the impression that in London he'd go back to his tough-matchups and defense-1st role instead of "working on offense" on the 1st line. We finally have a 19 year old that looks NHL-ready, and people want to send him down :( I'd easily move a bottom-6 vet to fast-track a 200-foot-game top prospect that earned it.

we'll see about that. It think he will play another 4 games, for the full 9 game try out and they will decide from there. I personally don't think he will be around by Late November. I just don't see it.

It will depend if he improves and earns more ice time. If he shows the coach he can play around 12-13 mins a night, he's going to stay up. If he's gonna play 9-10 a night he'll probably be sent down.

It's up to him on whether he stays or not.

I think his overall play deserved about 12-13 mins last night. He made no errors that I could think of and his style of play is much more NHL-like than Junior-like IMO.

I think he only got about 8:30TOI mostly because he hadn't been practicing with the team. I think Willie D would've loved to throw him out on the PK (especially in the 4 min PK) because literally every forward was killing penalties last night other than Horvat/Vey/Kassian/Vrbata IIRC. Horvat was our best faceoff man yesterday, so I doubt him not playing on the PK has anything to do with his actual play but rather not knowing the PK system quite yet.

I was actually pleasantly surprised with his play last night. Like I said earlier, he plays an NHL style game. Did not look out of place at all and seems to be a good puck protector/possession player. I would think his minutes will jump up by about 2-5 mins in the next few games as he learns the systems.

He has another 8. The AHL games do not count, it was a conditioning assignment.

I am not a big Horvat supporter, but He has never been a big offensive guy. He is just elite defensively, and could be an incredible third line player, maybe 2nd liner in this league.

As for the AHL comments.

He was on a conditioning assignment, he played on the third line, and had no PP time at all.

If Horvat can PK and take 12 minutes a game, then that is better than going back to Junior. However, if he's going to be bouncing in and out of the lineup with Matthias/Hansen/whoever, then it would be better to send him back so he can get games.

Excellent on faceoffs, played great defensively, and 3 assists in 14:27.

Great game for Bo!

Looks like he solidified his position in the NHL, 4P in 8GM. 3 assists tonight with an 81% percent face off percentage.

I was praying the Leafs would trade up to get him and predictably, Im disappointed. The Knights produce NHL'ers like sweatshops produce clothing.

He certainly has lofty expectations for himself.

Bo on taking faceoffs against Toews: "Believe it or not, that is my idol. That’s the guy I want to model my game after." #Canucks

Yup the kid is a beast.

Already our best faceoff guy & his defensive game is impressive, among the best on our team IMO.

He got to 15 minutes tonight which was great to see after the few games there were Willie wasn't playing him at all, he played 9 minutes last night & 15 tonight, & he got 4 points.

Seems like every game he's been given a regular shift he has played well, and those games have been against the best teams in the West to boot. (LA, Anaheim, Chicago).

I don't think there is anyway they can send him down, if anything they should start progressively increasing his role from here on out, but it was certainly a great start.
