Proposal: Ryan Pulock or Noah Dobson for your Top 6 Winger or Center

Yeah, I think it's all based around that Rutherford quote saying that he thinks there's a 50% chance Kyrou gets moved before his NMC kicks in or whatever. I would love to have Kyrou, wouldn't love to give up Dobson for him but I get it
If at the Draft Dobson is still not traded I could see the Blues dangling their 1st rounder at NYI if there isn't a guy on the board they like. I'm expecting the pick to be between 7-11th overall. I don't know how appetizing that would be for New York tho.

Yeah Dobson is not being traded for magic beans... and if for some reason he is, it'll be a few. Think Seth Jones deal

Dobson for Boeser and picks. Sounds to me like Brock is going to test the market. May as well use him as a trade piece to get what you want.

...so trade their best Dman for a UFA in hopes of trading that UFA...sounds like a strong, strategic move...

So Friedman today basically said that Dobson has been offered in deals for specific players - wouldn't single out VAN as the team he was offered to.

Friedman also mentioned that MTL is looking to add an impact player in a hockey trade earlier in the show. I wonder if those two thoughts were related, especially considering MTL was the other team named in the Dobson rumors. Would think it would probably be around Caufield right?

I don’t see how this trade helps the Devils. Would love to add Dobson, however, we need a third line center and we’re already thin at forward.
Let me put it this way.

A third line center is much easier to acquire at the trade deadline than a future #1 RHD is... in any way.

That's how that trade would help the Devils. :^)

Could be Slafkovsky too... Sure, he's not anywhere close to Dobson right now, but his contract will age well and he has the pedigree and already reached a certain level where you're not getting magic beans.
I think he could be a type of guy Lou likes too.

I can't see any other of our players having the kind of value Dobson should return.
No way we trade Suzuki.
Trading Hutson would be lateral at best.

I like Slafkovsky but personally unless Reinbacher or Mallioux are attached to him I wouldn’t make that type of deal. Like someone said above I’d really only trade Dobson for a 23-27 yr proven close-to-all star talent like Dobson is himself. Slafkovsky + Reinbacher (who I think has lost a ton of value in the last year) have enough value around them to make up that difference though I think.

Would be an insane trade but that looks around correct to me. I think it would be monumentally stupid to sell low on two dudes that are 20 or under but I can see why they’d do it. We can throw in something small like Bolduc

If Reinbacher has lost so much value, why you would want him?

I know for a fact that if the habs traded him, there would be a HUGE backslash by the fan because they sold us that he was the best talent at 5th overall last year. Passing on Michkov or a significant trade down. I think he is not on the table.

I think Mailloux would make more sense as he was drafted by the prior management team

He’s definitely not on the trajectory you’d like him to be on with long term injuries in consecutive years right? Everyone taken in front of him is in the NHL, along with a couple players taken behind him.

But I think the logic would be “you don’t need him, you have Dobson”. Mailloux has far less value as far as I’m concerned, and I’m not sure Lou is as lenient as Hughes as far as having guys like that in the organization - Tony D is divisive but he’s not out here committing crimes.

All this being said, I don’t really love the trade for the Isles lol. Wouldn’t hate it if it happened, but you’re really banking on development rather than a sure thing - doesn’t really matter where they were taken in the draft as both were somewhat of a surprise/reach. I don’t know if that’s what Lou is looking for

Boeser for Dobson

I know our forwards would have no depth but our defense would be absolutely stacked next year

Hughes Dobson
Petey 3.0 hronek
Myers willander
Petey 2.0

Well , there's no reasoning behind Reinbacher having lost a ton of value since he hasn't played. Wouldn't mind Mailloux. He did very good last year in the AHL.

But if you're looking for a 23-27 proven top 6 close to all star, that's Cole Caufield and I'd make that deal.

A deal Lou might be interested in would be Slafkovsky + Matheson. Perhaps with retention on Matheson.

Don't want to spin off the thread, but what Mailloux did wouldn't have come it in NA. He would've been judge as a minor and the accusations wouldn't have been made public. Chances are, Lou had many players in this situation in his career.
