^^ plus he hit at least 1 post, set up Reinhart for a couple posts, McDavid had chances off Horvat's passes - and I only watches parts of the games. He could have easily put up more points with any luck.

Either way, I loved how even with the big ice, his positioning at the blueline caused the opposing team to turn back and regroup.

Horvat continuing playoff beast mode from last year. Currently 2nd in OHL playoff scoring with 3g 4a 7pts in 3 games.

Didnt get a chance to see Horvat in memorial cup this year. Any insights on how well he played?

1st game was fine did a great job against Mantha(Mantha scored when Bo wasn't on the ice)
2nd game was lethargic by him , and all the Knights
3rd game was a strong game for him, and the Knights, but thier goaltending was horrible...just horrible.

I thought it was his weakest tournament of the three he's played. He never really seemed to be able to generate the cycle which he works so well in, he seemed to get stymied every time he tried to move the puck into dangerous areas from the wall

Looked like a future 2nd/3rd line center from what I saw. Expected more talent and skill to be shown but had very good compete level

So I'm guessing one more year of junior would be good for him?

I think its absolutely better for him to be playing in juniors again. The Canucks should take their time developing Horvat. He is solid defensively but he needs to flesh out his offensive game. He could probably handle 8-10 minutes in the NHL next year, but that would just be bad for his development. I'd say take a longer development route with Horvat, even a year in the AHL, to allow him to try and round into a top 6 Center.

No doubt, I can see Benning adding another 3rd line center then for a couple seasons while BoHo refines his game.

One thing before everyone rights off Horvat ... the kid hasn't stopped playing hockey since his first year in the OHL 3 years ago. OHL, plus U-18, plus WJC, plus 3 Memorial Cups, plus rookies camps for the Nucks.... I think from watching him this season he ran out of steam.

I think the layoff killed the Knights more than his continual play. As a team they just never got in a groove. Bo will be a solid pro and it could happen as soon as next season depending on how the Nucks want to do this. I don't think more time in juniors is going to change his offensive game all that much. He is a two way centre that is physically mature and may well be ready for the next step by training camp.

The same thing happened to Hodgson and then he suffered a major injury that eventually led to him being traded.

I'm thinking this as well. A comparable to me is Ryan Kesler, who scouts said was defensively sound enough to play in the NHL in his draft year. He started on the 4th line and while it took a couple years, he managed to find his offensive game along the way. At the very least, he's a guy who needs to get his 10 game stint in the NHL. I'd have no problems if management thought it best to incubate him in the O for another year.

Yea he'll go back to play for Hunter most likely in a similar role and I don't really see how that benefits him. He is a big kid that plays a pro game so perhaps he would learn more in the NHL. His offensive game did progress this past season and to me he feels like he is ready for the next step.

Horvat wont improve that much more in the OHL..

He put up 61 points in 67 games last year. Was one of the best two-way players in the league. Had an amazing playoff run.

he put up 74 points in 54 games this year. Was an even better two-way performer .... playoffs were cut short..team wasnt as good as previous year.

He developed his offensive game TONS.. he went from .91 ppg to 1.37. Thats a very nice increase in productivity.

He needs to play in the AHL next year... he needs to learn the PRO game but not at the NHL level. He needs to still work on his quick ness and he needs to learn how to translate his offensive game against men. I dont think all of his pretty toe drags and inside out moves will work on 30 year old men with size and expereicne. STILL... thats why he needs AHL time...he can develop confidence.

BUT..he'll be too young for the AHL..so ... whats better... another year in the OHL dominating against boys..or being overwhelmed in the NHL playing 9 minutes a night...

hmm not sure...maybe SEL?

He was far from dominant this year. He has not played his way out of the OHL.

I think he is getting a 9 game tryout this year.

Benning in his press conference mention he loves Horvat........so I expect he push to get Horvat to make the team if possible

Yeah be nice to see Horvat get at least 5 - 9 games then sent back to junior, making him hungry and more dominant next OHL season.

Just have to do an analysis at that 9 game mark if he's making a contribution to the team, playing steady, as they'll be some ups and downs for sure but if he's excelling at all in certain situations and doesn't have to be too sheltered, he could very well stay with the big club.

Cracked Vancouver's opening night roster. Looks like he's getting the 9 game look

Not necessarily. If the teams is winning out the gate and Mathiass and Vey are playing well at C, The they will probably send him down. Willie basically said the injury came at the worst possible time for him yesterday.
Edit: Jeff Paterson ‏@patersonjeff 9m
#Canucks Willie: Bo Horvat skated before group today. Roster decision looming

I can't imagine they wouldn't give him his 9 games at this point. We have two quick games this Wednesday and again Saturday, our 3rd game is a week later. He'll likely miss those two games but he'll have a full week to practice with the team. Heck, he may even get a 3 game conditioning stint in the AHL first.

I just can't see him getting sent down until they see what he can do in the regular season.

At this point, there's not much reason to send him down to London for contract purposes.

If anything, it's for development. And if Bo's good enough to make the team now - which he is - he still stay up for the season.
