And if i heard it right, went 9 for 11 in the faceoff circle today :handclap:

That's what CBC was saying. Galchenyuk is dangerous all game long. Near the end of the game, a Sabres player was alone near the side of the net and Price was out of position, but Galchenyuk was there to prevent a goal. He really played on both ends of the ice.:handclap:

He's been quite impressive, earlier when he was called up I told myself if he makes the team a 20-25 point season will be a major success, my my my is my prediction off pace to date.

He coulda had at least 3 more points to date if it wasn't for open nets missed by Prust or him panicking with the puck which is totally normal because you can tell the kid is still in disbelief.

Hopefully he keeps it up, He's looked great so far but soon other teams will start planning for him (and Bgally), when that happens will see if he has enough moves to stay consistent.

Although I will say this, in a few years when he's in his early twenties he'll be an offensive juggernaut alongside bgally, pacioretty and (hopefully) collberg. Habs are finally getting some offense to go with the defense that used to have to carry the team alongside price.

I had hopes we could have a chance of drafting a top talent this year (top 5) but Gally's have exceeded expectations by miles.. specially Brendan people dont realise how good he has been... people compare him to marchand but imo he has been a mixed of marchand and recchi without the Phd and the Marchand syndrome (personality).

As far as Galchenyuk goes.. incredible talent and... mind boggling learning abilities how he quickly recovered from the not so great wjc experience (in terms of personal on-ice use)... he is back to his original self and his speed is noticeable now.. and he has awsome passing abilities.. some of his assits have been lucky but.. luck doesnt come as often to the regular hockey player.. wich imo is a testament to his future racking pointability when they said at the draft he is a player that makes other players better well thats one of the way of expressing it imo. Generally he would be part of a big play but somehow luck follows him. Yesterday he had an awesome move and he almost mystified miller.. i will look for the link. For a guy who missed a full (okay he played 2 regular season games and 6 playoff games but u know what i mean) he is quite amazing.

I invite you to check last game scoreboard to see the lucky passes im talking about.

Btw its funny to see so little comments from no-habs fans... but understandable since so many here hate the habs (maybe this will trigger some of you to post). ;)

So pleased to have him in the lineup and performing as well as he has. Gallagher has been awesome as well.

Not that Prust hasn't been playing well but I'd like to see Eller on the other wing and bump Prust to the 4th/PK duties.

That would be as potent a third line as we've had in years.

Can't wait to see him pot his first top shelf snipe. It's coming.

People like the habs and others hate the habs, we can't be everyones favourites. And I'm sure a lot of non-habs fans have noticed Galchenyuk, no need to fish for their compliments...

Another Hab fan coming here...sorry!;)

Prust is great where he is...imo.
You could sometimes (only sometimes) replace Prust with Eller or Cole or Pacioretty (for a few shifts here and there which is what Therrien tried a few times with Cole), but I prefer Prust being the big brother on that line.

Prust is perfect for Galchenyuk and Gallagher...
Prust to do all the dirty, going in the corner work, in front of the net stuff,etc...and Prust to give that space that Galchenyuk and Gallagher need to do their thing. And most important of all...Prust to be the big brother on that line (very important).

Eller is good for the other lines...good depth for top 9.

And, Galchenyuk and Gallagher getting 12min./game...is great ice-time for their development.

Here is how I see things from the 4 most impressive "rookies", Agally being one of them:

VLADIMIR TARASENKO
BORN: DEC 13, 1991 (AGE 21)

GM: 8
G: 5
A: 5
P: 10
S%: 19.2 (Not sustainable, however should not see as big of a dip as Conacher).

CORY CONACHER
BORN: DEC 14, 1989 (AGE 23)

GM:
G: 5
A: 7
P: 12
S%: 35.7 (Not sustainable at all, will fall down to earth). That being said, is still helping his line contribute even when his shooting percent levels out. Even if his stat line was 2g-7a right now (more realistic shooting %) he would still be impressive.

ALEX GALCHENYUK
BORN: 12 FEB 1994 (AGE 18)

GM: 8
G: 1
A: 6
P: 7
S%: 7.1 (Could see an increase to around 9-11%. Has already hit a few posts and cross-bars, noteworthy only because he has taken 14 total shots all year. If even 1-2 had gone in, we would be looking at an inflated 30%+ shooting percent now like a few of the others listed).

NAIL YAKUPOV
BORN: 6 OCT 1993 (AGE 19)

GM: 9
G: 5
A: 2
P: 7
S%: 29.4 (Will come back down to earth as well, however we are taking about a very very good shooter. If he was around 14% at years end I would not be surprised in the slightest. Also worth noting that his assists should see a slight increase, he has distributed the puck well. RECAP: will not keep scoring pace up (29%+ shooting) but should see more assists as the numbers balance.

I rate them as follows for this year:

Tarasenko (Complete player)
Conacher (Age helps him over other 3, curious to know what he did over the lockout workout wise. He has taken full advantage of this chance, good for him).
Yakupov/Galchenyuk (center or winger)

That being said Yukupov and Galchenyuk at 19 and 18 respectively are proving many doubters wrong. As the others see their shooting %'s level out things may get interesting in the rookie scoring race.

This kid seriously needs to start putting up points. He's being held off the scoresheet for the past 2 games. :P

I don't see the point in mentioning their ages...Galchenyuk will turn 19 next week.

You know what impresses me the most?

Tarasenko played 85 games in the last 2 years before graduating to St-Louis at the age of 21

Conacher played 129 games the past 2 seasons and is now a great player for Tampa at the age of 23

Yakupov played 70 game in the last 2 years before his start in the NHL at 19

Finally Galchenyuk managed 41 games these past 2 years and doing great at 18/19 years old... Oh! and he has the least ICE TIME of the 4

UNREAL!!!!

I think that the age difference between Yakupov and Galchenyuk is negligable. There's only about 4 months difference. His ice time does seem to be a little lower than the rest. We'll see what kind of prodcution he'll have when he'll average 15 minutes per game.

Want him to use that shot, need to start using that wrister dawggie!!!!

He will. This is sort of a pattern with him. He was feeling things out in the beginning of the OHL season, then started taking over with his play-making, and getting the odd tap in or garbage goal. Then he started letting his wrister go and the goals came in bunches after that.

The other problem is that neither Gallagher nor Prust are particularly adept at getting him the puck cleanly.

Galchenyuk has now either scored or got the primary assist on 3 of the habs last 4 game winning goals.
