glad to hear, look forward to seeing him against Buffalo soon. OT have the Habs turned a corner or just playing hot right now?

The jury's still out from my perspective:
-Markov has 4 out of 6 of our PPGs and is scoring at a 40% mark
-Our #1 line isn't producing
-Pacioretty is injured for 3-4 weeks
-We've had a lot of rest so far this season while other teams haven't. This'll change when we start playing more back-to-backs and 3 games in 4 nights.

Why are they announcing that Gallagher is staying up all season? I don't get it.

Regarding Galchenyuk, I sure hope they know what they are doing...

I like the Habs' decision to keep Galchenyuk for the whole season. He has shown he can play in the NHL and has nothing left to learn in junior. His ice time has increased from 6/7 minutes to 12/13 minutes a game. You can see the improvement from each game and you can also that he is become more and more confident.

He only has 20ish games left in Sarnia during the regular season plus the playoff games he would play. Since he didn't play very much last year, I think it'll do him some good to get another 40 games under his belt and he seems to be getting better each game in the NHL. In Montreal, he will be training like a pro and will be picking up lots of valuable tips from NHL players. If his 5 games were like the first one he played against Toronto, they probably wouldn't have kept him...but since he's moved to centre, he's been a different player.

Personally i think no prospect (who is junior eligible) should be kept this year. Alex has been decent its pointless to have a guy who could be your number one center in the next few years burn a year of his entry level, keep him till five games then send him down. However i'm kinda of in the mindset of having a prospect play in the CHL for as long as they can and then play a year in the AHL minimum.

It's pointless if he's pointless, but if he's not pointless it's not pointless. And he's not pointless anymore.

If he stays to learn, you burn a year.

Unless I'm misunderstanding what you're saying.

He means that he'd rather burn a year and have Galchenyuk gain experience in a shortened season. Sure you give up a year, but it helps him acclimatize to the NHL.

So jealous of Montreal...How could you be so lucky?

In terms of Gallagher, it was good scouting mix in with some luck that he was still there in the 5th and the way he managed to develop into such an offensively gifted player. In terms of Galchenyuk, they picked 3rd. No real luck there, just a really talented player available at the top 3.

I think he'll be a stud in the NHL. He's got a lot of poise, wicked wrist shot, if he keeps at it, the goals are going to come in a matter of time.

Habs burn a year of his ELC but IMO, he looks ready. Experience in the NHL >>> ELC year.

I wasn't completely sold on Desharnais and in the games I've watched, he looks more of a one year fluke than a legit #2C.

By next year, Galchenyuk could be on the 2nd line and on the first PP.

I know it's a bit early but I'd take him above Yakupov any day if he's is playing at center.

I really hate the fact that players I like (Price and Galchenyuk) are Habs.

I've been really impressed with Galchenyuk. For an 18 years old kid who missed a full season recently... he's really something.

His skating is just unreal... the way he moves around the ice, his acceleration, his strenght on the puck and how he can move it to pretty much anywhere in a hurry. Very slick hands. Can do a lot of stuff at high speed and is involved everywhere in the play. He's backchecking really hard and is eager to have the puck on his stick.

Elite level offensive skills as well. He really jumps out as a skilled player. Vision is obviously world-class, shot is hard and playmaking abilities are out of this world. Big body as well and isn't outmatched physically at all.

He's gonna be a good one...

Galchenyuk will be living with his mom and sister in Montreal this season (and Gallagher will be living with Gorges) ...

Good to see that the Hab's brass isn't letting it's youngsters live alone in the party-happy city of Montreal anymore.

Gallagher with his second and Galchenyuk with an assist so far after the 1st period.

Gallagher 4-2-1-3pts
Galchenyuk 5-1-3-4pts

Not bad for 2 rookies playing with a physical player.

Good decision keeping him in the NHL. This way, he can't burn Canada in the WJC next year lol

He's really scaring me. I knew he'd be terrific, but seeing his game translate like it has.. I can't be in denial anymore. Habs got it right.
