Every time he touches the puck, something good happens.
1st assist: steals the puck and makes a perfect pass on the tape to Gallagher.
2nd assist: catches the puck on the blue line, brings it down and makes a saucer pass to Prust who scores.
He also had a nice break after a penalty. He dekes Zidlicky but his shot went too high.

The big thing the last 3 games is he's playing center, when the original plan was to play him on the wing (played there in the first game and did not look good and Therrien even said 2 days before the start of the season that Galchenyuk was playing wing almost without a doubt). But the plan changed when Eller got scratched and thankfully they decided to use Gally at C. He's just much more comfortable at center. Considering Beaulieu would have likely just put him back on the wing in Sarnia

Its too early to tell I think. They've been playing very well for the most part though. We'll see if they can continue...

I don't recall any major boneheaded play and he plays hard in the corners. I've said many times I wanted him back to Sarnia at the beginning of the season, but at this point I think he's a lock to stay in the big league.
A lot of people seem to picture him as a sniper, but really, his best trait remains his vision in my opinion. He can dish those saucer passes like no other.

Not more than anyone else. The Prust Galchenyuk Gallagher line has been the best of the night.
he's not going back to Sarnia. 3 pts in 4 games and now with pacioretty hurt Habs need his offense. and with desharnais and Eller struggling he's going to stay the year. he has prust on his line to do the heavy lifting if necessary. he's not getting intimidated

Galchenyuk still has some things to work on (I know, duh), but considering how he has been able to look dangerous offensively, compounded by Patches being out for awhile, I do not think there's a chance he goes back at this point.

He has been really good and has produced even with only 12 mins per game. The Prust-Galchenyuk-Gallagher line is amazing. He was on the ice for a goal against only once but it wasn't his fault. He had 7 shots in 3 games before today.
Biggest negative so far are faceoffs.
Doesn't he also play wing for Sarnia?
Faceoffs are always a big problem for any rookie.

Yes, the main thing though is his Sarnia linemates just get out of the way and let Galchenyuk create the offence - Gally just ends up occupying the center of the ice most of the time as a result even though he lines up at wing at the faceoff.
That won't happen in the NHL if he's playing wing like he was in game 1. It didn't happen at the WJC either when he was playing wing.
Biggest difference is Markov on our PP. If our PP had been at our usual level last year then we would've challenged for a playoff spot. We lost so many 1 goal games because we could never convert on it.
They've looked good so far! Better depth than last season and some key guys that were injured last season (Markov, Gionta) are back and playing well.
Right now the big hole in the lineup is a top 4 d-man. If/when Subban is signed the Habs i think could really surprise.

Occasionally a few guys can come in and not be terrible at it. Ryan O'Reilly and Sean Couturier were at 47% their first year. By contrast Crosby was at 45% as a rookie. I can't remember the last 18 year who was plus 50%. I don't even think guys like Stamkos or Tavares took enough faceoffs to official qualify in their 18 year old years. Toews was plus 50% his first year, but he was 19 and had spent a year at North Dakota.

The thing that i've been surprised with most is his play away from the puck. He's actually been quite good defensively. I mean, I know he's not going against the opposing teams top players yet, but he's been impressive none the less and is a +2 to go along with his 3 points in 4 games. He's also only getting about 12 mins of ice time per game, and very little powerplay time. He's actually leading the Canadiens in even strength points.
He'll have one more shot to impress the brass in his 5th game on Tuesday, but I think he's here to stay.
