I don’t think that’s accurate, but don’t care to argue this point. Why would you discredit Hedger’s report? You’re sources better than his?

It makes a ton of sense that they were considering smith over Fantilli (and/or Carlsson). There was so much smoke there, definitely seemed they wanted the workd, and fanbase, to be prepped that they may go “off the board” and take smith. Same noise was happening with Carlsson and the ducks… and it was obviously accurate.
I actually follow the team and thus have followed Hedger for years . He’s not very good, and almost all CBJ fans will back me up on that. He’s rarely first, and when he is first, he’s rarely right. He is not wrong that we loved smith, he IS wrong in his assumption we wanted Carlsson at 3 (or 2 in his trade up scenario) and Jarmo had to be convinced to take Fantilli.

It is well known out top 4 (in order) was: Bedard, Fantilli, Smith, Carlsson. Buccigross himself said we were taking Smith as we were taking Fantilli. We were anticipating Anaheim taking Fantilli. When they didn’t, we took him. But Carlsson was going to be 4th overall if Anaheim took Fantilli.

Lol that’s cool you know the blue jackets draft list. oh wait, you don’t know squat.

The issue is you have confused your beliefs based on homerism with facts…now I am just to setting the record straight.
i don’t know why you’re so hostile about this. Most CBJ fans wanted Carlsson over Smith and were pissed at the thought of Smith going over him.

But using Brian Hedger as a source is like using Eklund. But you believe what you want.

I really don’t believe anything, I don’t know who CBJ had at #2.

However, despite how bad you want to believe, and how many times you claim to, you don’t know either. Hedger may be a bad source, in your opinion, but he is a better source than the voices in your head.

Someone being wrong for years doesn’t count as anything?
Huh?

Wrong. On multiple levels, that I cannot explain. But since you don’t care, maybe we should just move on?

4 goals 1 assist in the CBJ prospects scrimmage today (regardless of what Hedger says). The fanbase is pretty pumped:

Babcock as coach and being rushed into the nhl...yeah this is looking Pool party 2.0
Babcock has gone on record to the Sunday Brunch saying he doesn’t want to throw Fantilli to the wolves and preached patience. Also was stated starting Matthews on the 3rd line and let him earn his way up and saw how that worked out for him.

Babcock for all his faults did fine initially with the 2 teenage phenoms I can remember him coaching (Matthews and Marner). Both developed into among the best at their positions. Not saying that will happen with Fantilli. But, if anything, it's likely going to be harder for Jiricek's development under Babs than Fantilli, who if he's frustrated with can play on the wing with less responsibility, young defenders won't get the same level of leeway.
Jarmo has gone on record saying acquiring Severson allows them to not rush Jiricek and keep him another year in the AHL.

I saw Babs statements, on Matthews they were sort of weird, since he stated that he ran Matthews as the 3rd line guy all year in 2016/17. At home Matthews was sort of was I could say, but by like December/January, since we really played all 3 lines equally, and other teams on the road were absolutely trying to match-up with Matthews. But, if Fantilli forces that problem, its likely a good one for you. The Leafs really had no clear star players that were established, I guess you could say JVR if you were really stretching, but due to that, you could get away with running the first 3 lines equally, and running 2 equal PP's. With Gaudreau at the top of your line up (and to a lesser extent Laine), its gonna be hard to try to run 3 lines pretty much equally at 5v5 without creating issues.

I dont think so. If Fantilli started on the 3rd line with Texier and maybe Chinakhov its still a line you can give a lot of minutes. Gaudreau/Laine will obviously get their PP icetime and will still be 1 dominate PP and a 2nd unit getting minimal minutes.

They can build 3 pretty good lines as is even without relying on Fantilli to be a top 6C from day 1.

As you say to equally do this would necessitate acquiring a top 6C to play in the 1C role and Jenner in the 2C. A top 6C for short term 2-4 yrs (Couture or Pageau type) or big swing longer term 5-8 yrs (Lindholm or Hertl type) and keep them there in the 1C until Adam is ready then drop them down to the 2C. Then move Jenner back to wing.

I don’t think Jarmo is done but it’s going to be harder because most teams are up against the cap and requires hockey trades.

Eh Gaudreau and Laine haven't really played much together.

So you could have Booner centering Gaudreau and Marchenko

Johnson centering Laine and Roslovic

And then Fantilli centering Chinny and Tex. You could essentially roll those not even including the like 15 depth forwards we have that have to fit in the bottom 6 somehow.

A guy like Voronkov will likely start in the AHL and I'm guessing as soon as he's an injury callup will force his way onto the roster for the rest of the season. The Jackets have plenty of depth and skill now to really roll a few lines in any given situation against most other teams

The Blue Jackets wrapped up development camp on Wednesday at a suburban ice rink. Adam Fantilli, just one week after the Jackets made him the No. 3 pick at the NHL Draft, was the main draw all week, signing autographs and posing for pictures with fans long after the sessions ended each day.

He was pretty good on the ice, too. His “Michigan goal” was the highlight of Sunday’s opening session, and he scored four goals in the end-of-camp scrimmage on Wednesday. The first one was scored just 31 seconds into the game.

Here are seven observations from the four-day camp:

1. Fantilli’s a leader

You would expect Fantilli to stand out on the ice, and he did. He’s 6-foot-2, but he gets up on his skates like a much smaller player. The ability to make plays at high speed was on display Wednesday. The game was played four-on-four for two periods and three-on-three for the third, and Fantilli feasted on the open ice.

He also showed something else: Before the puck dropped and during stoppages, it was often Fantilli who brought the group together with a message before they broke up to take draws and resume play. This was Fantilli’s first development camp, and he was surrounded by players who have been to two or even three camps.

“That’s one of the reasons we had him so high (on our draft board), why we think so highly of him,” Blue Jackets GM Jarmo Kekalainen said. “He’s a very mature young man who takes his job seriously. Leadership is always expected from players of that caliber, and he’s shown that this week.”

It can be a challenge for an 18-year-old hotshot to fit into an NHL dressing room, but Fantilli is humble enough — and certainly respectful enough — that he shouldn’t have any issues.

After each of the sessions, he spent time signing autographs and taking pictures with fans, who showed up in droves. The parking lot at OhioHealth Chiller North was packed. So were the bleachers, sending fans three deep around the rink.

“I remember being a little kid in Toronto when guys came through there, and I’d want to stop and take a picture with them and watch them play,” Fantilli said. “I’m happy that I’m able to be that guy.

“The warm welcome (in Columbus) has been amazing. I’m super excited to be back in the fall.”
