What does he have to gain by going back?

Eichel scored 56 points as a rookie in a lower scoring league and Fantilli is entering into much better situation than Eichel

Yeah, well. We shall see! If he indeed leaves college I'm not expecting anywhere near a 56 pt. rookie season. But would love to be proved wrong here and surprises me.

I wouldn’t put that expectation on him either but the situation reminds so much of Eichel and Columbus can give him a mix of Gaudreau/Laine/Johnson/Marchenko to play with.

Gaudreau especially would be a fantastic partner with how much pressure he’d take away from Fantilli

Every single Columbus pick/trade/UFA signing always has the same stupid ass discussion about Columbus as a city and 90% of the people making comments about it have never actually been there. I don't think any other franchise has to deal with that bullshit except maybe Buffalo and Winnipeg. It's so stupid and completely irrelevant.

Fantilli wanted to be a Blue Jacket. Gaudreau wanted to be a Flyer, but ultimately CHOSE the Blue Jackets. Werenski wanted to stay here. Bobrovsky and Nash signed multiple contracts here. Even Seth Jones signed long term here.

Put a sock in it and move on. Just because Panarin wanted to be in New York and Jeff Carter didn't want to be here it ruins the entire outlook for the city? Gtfo with that.

With that, the full court press to get Fanta to jump to the NHL is on. I think he's ready. But I don't blame him if he goes back. A chance to win a national championship (maybe as the captain? Idk) with your brother is probably pretty enticing. Either way, Jackets' pool looks solid and the NHL roster is on its way too.
Edmonton says hi.

Agree that it's stupid. It is what it is. The cities are what they are and there’s no need to beat dead horses.

Babcock as coach and being rushed into the nhl...yeah this is looking Pool party 2.0
I thought Matthews ended up pretty fine under Babcock though?

He can work ok with young star guys if he can avoid being a prick. Granted, that's pretty large if.

This is the most excited I have been in a prospect since Filatov (when i was like 12 years old). I am so thrilled Fanta is a Blue Jacket. I am glad he is embracing the city already, and I am glad he made the jump.

Hope to see him at development camp tomorrow.
Fantilli was at the Columbus Crew game tonight.

It was like a mega star showed up. Huge pop pre game when stands were pretty bare. Then he was shown on the screen mid game. Bigger pop (sold out crowd) and chants of “CBJ.”

Gotta be honest, felt amazing to see.

Fantilli is infinitely a better skater than Puljujarvi ever was, in all aspects, speed, agility, balance, edges. Skating is the most important skill to have in the game and Fantilli already has it so I think the player comparison is off.

Now, Fantilli being rushed to the NHL, all speed and high motor but not an engine-type of player and looking like Yakupov 2.0?! Now that's something I would agree with. :sarcasm:

Anybody know is currently on the “right side” of the PP? By the half wall?
Marchenko?

I know Laine is the on the left half wall

Thanks
I thought Gaudreau was the Bumper on the PP

Fantilli is a main stay right half wall and is deadly there on the PP

Maybe he’ll be on PP2
I can imagine him on PP1 as the main puck retrieval guy following a dump-in (if they decide to do less controlled entries), net the front guy screening and deflecting pucks, and a passing option for Gaudreau down low. I think he has better hands and feet for the job than Jenner who's had that role in the past.

---------- Fantilli
Laine - Marchenko - Gaudreau
--- Boqvist/Severson/Jiricek

But as you said it's also possible he'll be on the 2nd unit.

Next year betting favourite would have him on pp2.

By year 2 he’s probably the teams go to guy offensively (hopefully)
