Dahlin is only 24 when they deal begins. So logically, these are going to be the best 8 years of his career which takes him to age 32.That said, this may have just set the bar for the next wave of top-10 defenceman, so it may not look as high in a few years. Time will tell.
So, nothing wrong with paying the market rate for prime years. You are paying for quality. This isn't a 28 year old that you signed to age 36, such as Seth Jones, OEL, etc.
