Warms my cold bitter heart to see them play with such life on the first game with fans. Seriously. I really really appreciate it.
Other misc thoughts:
  1. Absolutely insane what the Bs get away with. If Studnicka or Marchand are wearing blue jerseys they get an extra 6 PIM easily. Easily. That’s just the low handing fruit.
  2. Kreider really has stepped up w Panarin out. Not just the goals, he is bringing the heat on the forecheck.
  3. Lafreniere had some flashes tonight eh?
  4. Lindgren has to bleed every other game. Need the numbers on that.
  5. Fox is that good. Crazy that he did what he did tonight and I almost forgot to mention him. He’s so consistent. Really a special hockey player.
  6. Blackwell...#43 is an interesting choice in recent-ish NYR history. Pretty fitting with the way he is playing now if you ask me.
  7. They got some bounces tonight but it’s been a long time coming
Great Post. I think K Miller is so smooth. He’s huge. Fast. Calm. Awesome.
next season D:
Lindgren. Fox
Miller. Trouba
Hajek. Lundkvist
Smith

That was a nice moment. I think we all know realistically this season isn't going to be ours, but this will be one of those games you look back on and remember fondly regardless.
Exactly. For a non-PO game for sure. Easily topped what the Isles did, then again it was on a b2b, so theres that.
Just starting to read PGT, cant imagine too many negative comments......oh wait, this is HF, so maybe.

Doesn't the Smith contract run out after this season? I don't think we should re sign him. Even if his cap hit goes down considerably.

Also, I've been a fan of Ryan Lindgren since I used to watch him on Minnesota when I was checking in on Tyler Nanne.

He is quickly becoming one of my favorite Rangers in recent memory. I love everything about his game. He's a f***ing animal and I love it. He takes a beating every night and comes back for more. And he can really dish it out for a dude who isn't that big.

He's gone from being a guy I figured would have a nice 3-4 year run here before being forced out by better players to a guy who I really think can be part of the core.
Agree whole heartedly. I will go you one better. I would feel PROUD to say he was our CAPTAIN, if they'd ever choose to do that. He's a bad ass and already is bleedinģ Rangers blue.
Which leaves me wondering, why isnt he ever interviewed? Rarely anyway.

Strome putting up points without Panarin surprises me. When he plays like this without taking those stupid penalties, he is great.

We have also started winning face offs.

No Kakko, Panarin, Chytil and Trouba. Once the chemistry starts to click, we will be dangerous.

Blackwell has been surprisingly good throughout the season.

Only negative is the PP. They need to work on the PP big time.

Loved the effort. Keep it going!
Lets play the "what if" game. What if they were ALL ready to play next game. Do you put in ALL of them following last nights game?
Reason I say this is because, wasn't Tony benched a 2nd game BECAUSE we had just played an outstanding game W/O him?

This was easily one of their best games. Missing big players like Panarin and Trouba, were still able to put up 6 goals and only keep Boston at 2 goals.

Kreider got heat for his contract but he is earning it right now. On pace for over 40 goals in an 82 game season now. Cannot ask any more from him.

Adam Fox continues to amaze and Lindgren has been an ideal partner for him as well.

I know Strome gets some flack here but he really stepped up in this game. Maybe he can be the future 2c for this team.

Still feeling the buzz from last night and I really need to get to a game if it’s possible this season. Tickets have to be way expensive on the secondary market like stub hub. But they play like this more often, will be worth it.

Laf is looking very good. As was Kakko. If they really can keep the upswing going, I’d say there is zero problem with the development pace.
In color analyst speak...the game is starting to slow down for Laf.

Now once Laf starts to figure things out on the pro level (he did get his first assist), he's gonna be just fine...

Now that was some goddamn hockey.
Just gives me a warm, fuzzy, tingly feeling in destroying a Bruins team that brings me back to 70's hockey. A classic Bruins beatdown that we dont get to enjoy but once a decade. And I mean beatdown. Wonder about next game, can they repeat it?
I think so, but in a different manner.

The Bruins bring out the best in us. Seriously. They’re kind of our older brother. I think it’s clear JG and co want us to be a team like the Bruins. And I bet it’s discussed in the clubhouse.
Yup. "They're gonna challenge your work ethic", says it all.
Hate to say it, but thats the type of game you have to bring vs Islanders as well. Trotz, all Trotz.

These are the types of games that can lead into a nice winning streak.Beat them again tomorrow and hopefully take off like a rocket

Strome.

Fox is Fox

That was Lafrenieres best game of the season. That pass to Strome was ridiculous. I really wish he scored on that backhand shot, but the move he made was awesome.

HM to Lindgren. I thought Miller had a strong game too. I also know he’s taken some punishment, but I do like the way Gauthier is coming along. I still think he has potential to be a good player in this league.

Good to see the Rangers play a great game against a top team, for the first time in front of a home crowd. But I have to say, the Rangers have been playing great for a long time now. This game is all about defense. And defensively they have been playing great for long stretches of the season. Their PK has been awesome. What a turnaround from last year. Not sure how they are doing it or why, but it is obvious in their 5 on 5 play. At even strength, they are just out numbering opponents. Along the boards, in front of the net, even in the neutral zone. On every video shot you will always see all 5 skaters in view when they don't have the puck. They are playing as a 5 man unit. So this makes it easy to win battles, and turnover pucks because there are outnumbering their opposition. You go against the boards, you're gonna win every battle when you have 2 against 1,... 3 against 2 and so on. And they are doing this everywhere on the ice. At even strength, it looks like we are on the PP. Their tight gap control has been excellent. Every time an opponent gets control of the puck, a Rangers skater is there in his face.

If the Rangers keep to this sound defensive structure, they will no doubt have a winning season and be a playoff contender. What really bodes well, is that even replacements buy into the defensive structure and there are no defensive lapses. Come on, we are doing this with Jack Johnson, Libor Hajek, Brendan Smith and Anthony Bitetto? Are you kidding me? Of course a lot of their success involves the backchecking of our forwards who have really picked up their defensive game. They have really been clogging the middle. The only goal I have seen recently that came from a pass across the defensive zone, was the PP goal last game in Philly on that back door play. Other than that, I have not seen many back door passes that have been successful against us.

It was only a matter of time before our offense and PP started to produce. Mainly because the offensive production of all the top teams in the league,... comes off their great defensive play.

We have been playing playoff hockey, here in the first 3rd of the season.
Amazingly accurate analysis. (AAA). And all I can say is

OH BABY!
