Seravalli: Broberg/agent requesting a trade (mod: title updated, Oilers didn’t give permission to Broberg to seek a trade)

Send his ass to Bakersfield and bring him back up when there is a LH D injured. He’s 22 and hasn’t proven a damn thing but he’s also worth more as a prospect than whatever you are going to get for him in a trade. Absolutely no need to trade him. At worst, he can be an asset to trade at the deadline when you know where the hell you are.

Podkolzin is playing like beast in AHL and would look great in Oilers top 6/9. Not sure sure Broberg would fit with Canucks
Broberg's played incredibly well in the AHL any time he's gone down, 29 points in 42 games and he's not an offensive defenceman.

Edmonton has no Russians, so I'd worry about our ability to make him feel welcome.

Confused. I thought you guys needed D(RD esp.), then G and then maybe 3rd-4th liners in order of need.
we need a top pairing RD to push Bouchard and Ceci down and a starting goalie. We aint getting either of those for Broberg. We might get a decent forward, though.

yeah they don't need five goalies
As an Oiler season ticket holder in the 80's and someone who saw Weir a lot even in his WHA days I am a fan of Weir for sure. But you listed some of the best to ever play the game as well as perhaps the most successful coach of all time. Weir definitely seems like the very odd man out in that crew.

I can imagine this might be something serious for the agent. Anyone get the feeling the agent went ahead of started calling teams without permission based on his tweet?

As an oil fan, yet another pick that Oilers fans didn't want that the team held onto too long and is now going to lose a ton of value on. Zegras, Boldy, Knight, Caufield, etc all could be huge for our system or roster right now.
a few Leafs fans have chimed in saying Broberg's agent is a real piece of work (same agent as Marner and Kadri)

If I understand right, this thread is where we can criticize the Oilers for something some guy made up.

Aren't his AHL numbers similar to Lavoie, Hamblin and Pederson's AHL numbers? Not really beast numbers ;)

This is the guy that Benning was rumored to be willing to draft even though scouts were telling him undeniably that he was not a guy they liked
I don't think you can say that Podkolzin will have the better career with certainty yet. I think there's a chance Broberg has been in a bad place and will improve substantially when traded (and may of course instead conclusively become a bust)

Blackwood
Duclair

Campbell
Ceci
Bourgault (1st Round Pick Prospect)
Broberg (1st Round Pick Prospect)
3rd 2024

Not too shabby for the prospects pipeline in San Joe and you are getting rid of guys you signed as 1 year fill ins... Would something like this work?

Can't really trade Ceci without an RD coming back. If we're keeping Broberg, you can trade Ceci with the hopes that he can fill in a void, but even that is a stretch.

Blackwood, Duclair
for
Campbell, Bourgault, Broberg, 2024 1st

Probably needs another piece. Breaks down to Broberg for Duclair and Campbell, Bourgault and a 1st for Blackwood.

If "playing like a beast" in the AHL is worth anything, it should be noted that Broberg has absolutely lit up the AHL anytime he's gone down.

I'd view the two pretty similarly right now. I don't know if there's a fit for either on the other team, though.

I listen to some all time great rock music:

Ok, I just saw some Canucks fans implying that Benning wanted Broberg over Podkolzin proves he's an idiot, and while I'm sure they have many other exhibits to prove that, it doesn't seem to me this qualifies.

Is there any chance the Predators have an interest in him? Seems it could be a good gamble for Trotz, Brunette, and Pred's D development staff, if the (low) price is right.

Because franchises believe that picking in the top-5 several years in a row is successful and makes them lots of money.. :eyeroll:
The Oilers still had a 95%+ attendance during those awful years, so I would say they have been successful. Why pay and waste money to the cap when you can get top 5 draft picks, go crazy about the potential, make the fanbase arrogant of said potential, keep getting the majority of fans at the games, and then do nothing with that potential?

Katz is actually super intelligent.

First off "blud" they were not gifted McDavid, they won the lottery fair and square. God damn you're just another one of them who cant get outta 2015. Move on with your life. Shit, if I win the lottery one day. I hope someone doesnt come tell me it was gifted to me.:laugh:
A gift is a gift when you go from 3rd to 1st in a generational year fam. Also, it was a gift since the NHL changed the lottery rules because of the Oilers and Penguins, and a small amount of Rangers. Also blud, you responded to me, it seems you might not be willing to let those "gifted" comments out of your mind since 2015.

Would there be a deal to be had around Broberg for Monahan (50% retained)? If so what would the deal need to look like?

Oilers need equal dollars in and out. Monahan would be a great add for our bottom 6. With using RNH as a winger we don't have that 3c we need (McLeod isn't it).
No - no room for Broberg on Habs.
