Seravalli: Broberg/agent requesting a trade (mod: title updated, Oilers didn’t give permission to Broberg to seek a trade)

The Oilers draft management since landing McDrai is absolutely pathetic & embarassing.
How many top 5 picks did the Oilers draft up to that point where they were gifted McDavid? I would say their drafting has been pathetic for almost two decades now blud.

We weren't gifted McDavid. Do you not understand how Drafts work in Sports Leagues?

So Ken holland, how do you think you’ve done so far as gm of the oilers? Bonus marks for honesty

Bro and Nuge for Matta/Chariot ,Rasmussen, 24 1st , Berggren? So a 24 1st plus a good/great forward prospect for Nuge and Bro for Matta/Chariot plus Raz?

Nuge is a non-starter. Not for a playoff team that needs both Winger and Center depth and he can play both as needed while putting up PPG seasons or better with consistency.

No. The whining of jealous entitled babies is what changed the draft rules which lead to NYR getting actually gifted Laff.
I am so sorry if you legitimately believe that because it is the wrong opinion. Don't you think it's weird that the NHL changed the draft lottery right after Oilers run of top 5 picks and constantly being in the top 5 and at 1st overall?

Uhh PPG seasons or better with consistency? In his entire career he’s only been above a ppg season once

Don't find it weird at all. The NHL wants to keep its fans happy and too many fans were crying that the Oilers got "gifted" picks. This despite the fact that the entire reason for the draft is to give shitty teams a chance to be a good again.

Berggren would be cheaper is an A level prospect that plays either wing so you save money to add a center if wanted plus that 24st to add more depth and Broberg would be replaced with Matta or Chariot which is a wash plus a big 4th/3rd line center/winger in Rasmussen. Don't wanna argue but wouldn't that help both teams?? You'd get cap flexibility and between Raz and Berggren you'd equal Nuges current stats plus add a 1st rounder

Blackwood
Duclair

Campbell
Ceci
Bourgault (1st Round Pick Prospect)
Broberg (1st Round Pick Prospect)
3rd 2024

Not too shabby for the prospects pipeline in San Joe and you are getting rid of guys you signed as 1 year fill ins... Would something like this work?
Sorry, but that's a pass for me. I wouldn't value Ceci + 3rd as more than a 1st.

So a major cap dump and a couple
of underwhelming former 1sts.
And of course a 3rd.
How can the Sharks say no?

Nuge is a complete non-starter. His value to the Oilers is much higher than his trade value. He's a player that has consistently been a good player here for a decade and wants to continue doing that for another decade. To the EDMONTON Oilers that has immense value. We also don't have a need for 2024 1st except to flip it for another upgrade.

I would entertain something around Broberg for Chariot though. I know everyone makes fun of the Chariot signing but I don't mind his playoff experience, there's a fit there for the Oilers based on that.

Would there be a deal to be had around Broberg for Monahan (50% retained)? If so what would the deal need to look like?

Oilers need equal dollars in and out. Monahan would be a great add for our bottom 6. With using RNH as a winger we don't have that 3c we need (McLeod isn't it).
I wouldn't trade mony for broberg unless there's a nice add

Broberg has some nice tools and I wouldn't be surprised if he turns into an NHLer. But if his problem is playing in the AHL he won't find another team with significantly less competition for an NHL roster spot.

First off "blud" they were not gifted McDavid, they won the lottery fair and square. God damn you're just another one of them who cant get outta 2015. Move on with your life. Shit, if I win the lottery one day. I hope someone doesnt come tell me it was gifted to me.:laugh:

Primeau for Broberg probably be good deal for both teams. A shot in dark. But I imagine Broberg next Kale Clague.

Wasn't a really strong draft that year to start with, and yet Holland takes a wild card pick amd loses. Go figure.....
It was a stacked draft class.

Most of our board wanted Zegras. Caufield and Boldy were still on the board a well.

But Holland went all Big-Brain and took the fast defenseman 10 picks earlier than projected.

you guys basically had 50% chance at McDavid and 100% at Eichel, Id say that's fairly close to being gifted.

how many 1st overalls do you guys need anyways?
Lolwut? What the actual fudge are you talking about?

We had exactly 11.5% chance to get McDavid and in effect 0% to get Eichel since he was always going number 2 and we could literally only pick 1st, 3rd or 4th.
