Seravalli: Broberg/agent requesting a trade (mod: title updated, Oilers didn’t give permission to Broberg to seek a trade)

Well later picks mean squat to us because they don't tend to help the team for years if ever or you get midling players for them. Broberg may not be a surefire star, but he has enough tools and has time on his side to be a worthwhile player for a team that can offer him time. Look at Michael Kesselring in Arizona for instance.
I mean the Sharks are shit and we have nothing of value.

Any way Bourgault + Broberg + cap dump for Duclair could work?
that seems like a lot of Duclair, haha.

The only salaries the Oilers have that would be big enough are Foegele and Kulak, and they don't have negative value (and moving Kulak makes no sense if we're moving Broberg)

If we're talking multiple firsts or former firsts, we're wanting to work Tank Commander Campbell and Blackwood into the deal.

Well we want to get rid of Campbell. What would we have to add for you to send us Blackwood too?
Hm might be getting too complicated. I find it hard to pin negative value on Campbell as part of this deal. I'm not sure a 1st would entice me and two 1sts might be too outlandish.

Fair enough. I thought maybe Foegele could be a dump, but maybe not.

His plus minus leaves a lot to be desired, but he's been a bright spot. Good energy, physical, fast, likes to shoot. Not getting a lot of help in goal, but nobody is really.

Like when he was drafted 8th and compared to guys like Hanifin, Carlson, obligatory Hedman whispers?

Not saying those projections were on track, but there was something there.
True, I really shouldn't have used the word "ever". I for one also claimed that he would go on to be better than Bouchard

I'm confused what went so wrong for him.

He obviously has some holes in his game but he's big, great skater and decent offensively. I would have imagine he would at least compete for a job in the NHL with those skills alone.

I guess not though I think the habs should take a flyer on him for the rest of the season. If he's good, keep him as depth for the young Ds to compete with, if not, get rid of him.

Would there be a deal to be had around Broberg for Monahan (50% retained)? If so what would the deal need to look like?

Oilers need equal dollars in and out. Monahan would be a great add for our bottom 6. With using RNH as a winger we don't have that 3c we need (McLeod isn't it).

Can see a interdivsional trade with the Canucks working out for both teams here:

To Edmonton: Karlsson, 2026 6th, 2027 7th

To Vancouver: Broberg, 2024 3rd

Edmonton clearly gets the better player now in Karlsson who is game ready to be a middle six mucker for the Oilers, adding some energy and sandpaper they DESPERATELY need. Canucks get a depth reclamation project that they have time to try in turn his game around, plus get the better pick for giving up the better player

Right.... that 2018 draftee "clearly better", "middle 6 NHLer" with 2 whole career NHL games under his belt. Broberg with almost 80 NHL is the reclamation project so we add the much better pick.....

Taylor radish $750k. Salary for broberg might make sense. I think reichel has started off slow but I think the hawks have not given up yet. He is still only 21. They made a New York City mistake on starting him the first 15 or so games at center. He’s just not physically strong enough to play that.

Blackwood
Duclair

Campbell
Ceci
Bourgault (1st Round Pick Prospect)
Broberg (1st Round Pick Prospect)
3rd 2024

Not too shabby for the prospects pipeline in San Joe and you are getting rid of guys you signed as 1 year fill ins... Would something like this work?
