Seravalli: Broberg/agent requesting a trade (mod: title updated, Oilers didn’t give permission to Broberg to seek a trade)

I am so sorry if you legitimately believe that because it is the wrong opinion. Don't you think it's weird that the NHL changed the draft lottery right after Oilers run of top 5 picks and constantly being in the top 5 and at 1st overall?

Because franchises believe that picking in the top-5 several years in a row is successful and makes them lots of money.. :eyeroll:

you guys basically had 50% chance at McDavid and 100% at Eichel, Id say that's fairly close to being gifted.

how many 1st overalls do you guys need anyways?
Oh yeh did the NHL writes the rules of the draft as a gift to the Oilers? Last I heard every team in the League had access to the exact same rules and exact same odds.

Leafs were one of the few teams in the past decades to actually TANK for a chance to draft higher and get McDavid. If anything the Leaf’s should be shamed for their draft antics. All the Oilers did was SUCK.

I don't remembering the Leafs doing any such thing. Buffalo and Arizona both tanked to try and land McDavid. Buffalo GM was pissed he didn't get McDavid

Did you miss the part where Holland said he has NOT given permission for him or his agent to seek a trade.
That doesn't mean the Oilers themselves aren't making calls. And from the sound of it, they are actively checking the market to see what teams would be willing to give up for him.

I wonder if the Flyers would be interested. Maybe a guy like Seeler or Walker would be available in a trade for Broberg. I think the Oilers would have to add for Walker, though, and Seeler might not be enough.

They would claim literally any NHL defencemen since they only have one in Ekholm. Broberg likely clears waivers since he can't even play on Edmonton's joke of a blueline.
And yet Nurse has been way way better than Ekholm. Might want to watch the Oilers play before putting your foot in your mouth.

Of course they are making calls. Every GM in the league would make calls if a players agent ask for a trade. Doesn't mean they are going to dump him.

Bro and Nuge for Matta/Chariot ,Rasmussen, 24 1st , Berggren? So a 24 1st plus a good/great forward prospect for Nuge and Bro for Matta/Chariot plus Raz?
Nuge has the final say and it is NO.

I can imagine this might be something serious for the agent. Anyone get the feeling the agent went ahead of started calling teams without permission based on his tweet?

As an oil fan, yet another pick that Oilers fans didn't want that the team held onto too long and is now going to lose a ton of value on. Zegras, Boldy, Knight, Caufield, etc all could be huge for our system or roster right now.

Forget that it's Broberg. How is holding onto any d prospect who is 22 that has less than a full NHL season under his belt holding on too long?

The problem is the Oilers needed him to do something this year. If we had better all around defense this wouldn't be much of a conversation, but because the team so desperately needs better defense it's an issue.

I look at who was taken after him in Podkolzin a forward and Soderstrom another d-man, and I'm not seeing all this public outcry that their teams need to dump these players as they've had them "too long".

I get expectations are high as he was a top 10 pick(even though he should've went a little after), but I also don't think that 2 months ago this guy had some sort of game changing value on the market either.

if they trade him it needs to be for someone making within $50K of him. and the ED reporters are saying they would prefer a player and that player to be a forward.

Mcdavid and his agent gave him permission. We all know Holland isn't running the ship anymore. Whatever, Broberg sucks anyway.

I'd say someone like Montreal might take a chance on him.

The Habs are full up on D. Heck no room right for Xhekaj right now, we even have rotation play in the AHL. Not even counting guys like Hutson and Konyushkov coming up.

How about Broberg for Maroon?

I know Rishaug said you guys might be interested in him. But why?

I can't see the Habs having much to offer.

We got plenty of miscellaneous crap for someone like Broberg, but we got no room for the Swede.

Edmonton and Montreal need to fire every scout that they employ :help:

MTL sucks ass at picking high 1st rounders but we make up for it in the latter rounds.

Just for that I think I'd trade LHD Harris for Broberg because he is 2018 draftee.

Harris might be small and physically weak but at least he can play in the NHL whereas Broberg is large and physically weak and hasn't managed to play in the NHL.

the local media guys are saying Edmonton wants a forward in return.

Confused. I thought you guys needed D(RD esp.), then G and then maybe 3rd-4th liners in order of need.

Well i have a deal for him. Allen straight up.:sarcasm:

I hate these type of comments. Money wouldn't work. Primeau on the other hand...

Would there be a deal to be had around Broberg for Monahan (50% retained)?

So trade one of our top tradable assets for someone we don't need plus use up our last retention spot? Embarrassing proposal.

Come on blud, don't be like this.

Chill blud. Chill.

What are the Oilers needs right now?

I thought I knew but it appears I'm wrong. Maybe a defensively responsible tweener like Ylonen? But once again no room for Broberg especially since he'll need waivers from next season on.
