Seravalli: Broberg/agent requesting a trade (mod: title updated, Oilers didn’t give permission to Broberg to seek a trade)

Is there any chance the Predators have an interest in him? Seems it could be a good gamble for Trotz, Brunette, and Pred's D development staff, if the (low) price is right.
If the price is low. We have Josi, McDonagh, Lauzon, Stastney, Del Gaizo on the left side so aren't going to burn assets on a guy that needs development time (and probably won't like that) who would have to pass a bunch of guys on the depth chart as is.

I feel bad for any GM that has to deal with Ferris. What a tool.

I could see there being an interest in Nashville as i think Broberg still has a high ceiling though with each passing year i grow weary of him getting there. Problem occurs that we have so many NHL LHD currently and Spencer Stastney has proven himself NHL ready. We are currently playing 4 LHD with McDonagh and Josi as a pair. We would need to trade one out. Maybe there is a deal there with Lauzon going (they could maybe use some physical nastiness) and maybe someone like Parssinen/Sherwood/Smith for Broberg and McLeod.

Due to edmontons cap structure, it is kindof hard to make room on nashvilles defense and have the cap work out in edmonton

Huh, Broberg got too many undeserved opportunities on Oilers as it was, he's done nothing to earn more opportunities or ice time.

Also, I predicted he would do poorly. Was a typical junior player, and got overhyped due to Hlinka.

No it's not that complicated. He just hacks all the insiders and monitors their phones all day. Simple.
If you really want to know a secret, you can have a permanent web crawler that tracks all the insiders' twitter posts and then make it automatically post a thread on hfboards as soon as an insider posts something that triggers the conditions. You can use NLP machine learning to detect which category thread to make, etc.

A gift is a gift when you go from 3rd to 1st in a generational year fam. Also, it was a gift since the NHL changed the lottery rules because of the Oilers and Penguins, and a small amount of Rangers. Also blud, you responded to me, it seems you might not be willing to let those "gifted" comments out of your mind since 2015.
Sure thing "blud"

Confirmed, MMC is a machine.

Would there be a deal to be had around Broberg for Monahan (50% retained)? If so what would the deal need to look like?

Oilers need equal dollars in and out. Monahan would be a great add for our bottom 6. With using RNH as a winger we don't have that 3c we need (McLeod isn't it).
No. Montreal already has too many nearly ready NHL D. Broberg doesn't really address a need

Vancouver will give ya Myers with full retention a 7th and Tolopilo for Broberg

Come on, you know ya wanna.

I liked his play on the Condors. I truly think his skillset is underutilized on the Oilers and he would blossom elsewhere.

He's a good/great PP QB in the AHL. I'd argue sometimes better than the static Bouchard who relies on his shot and elite passing. Broberg distributed the puck better.

He will NEVER play on the PP on the Oilers because of Bouchard and Nurse above him.

To me, he is a better skating Klefbom 2.0 but less physical.

Considering who is posting this it's not surprising.

Either way it's clear the only one (in a topic about Broberg no less) who can't let 2015 go, is you.

The Oilers still had a 95%+ attendance during those awful years, so I would say they have been successful. Why pay and waste money to the cap when you can get top 5 draft picks, go crazy about the potential, make the fanbase arrogant of said potential, keep getting the majority of fans at the games, and then do nothing with that potential?

Katz is actually super intelligent.

So sad that the only way you have any arguments is to make up stuff. Like literally create fantasies out of thin air, just to be able to say something. Katz spent to the Cap even when we were bad, Oilers tried their best to compete every single year of our existence. Not a Tank to be seen.

Didn’t realize the Preds are so strong on the left side. Was just thinking, Trotz is in some kind of rebuild mood and so on, but it seems clear left D is not the starting point. In fact it seems they could get something back from playoff teams eventually (if the Preds are similar or worse than last year)

Oh yeh did the NHL writes the rules of the draft as a gift to the Oilers? Last I heard every team in the League had access to the exact same rules and exact same odds.

Leafs were one of the few teams in the past decades to actually TANK for a chance to draft higher and get McDavid. If anything the Leaf’s should be shamed for their draft antics. All the Oilers did was SUCK.
well I mean Oilers won like 6 1st overalls in 8 or 10 years. I apologize I was wrong for what I said about the draft %

but I wouldn't say Leafs tanked for McDavid, still had guys like Kadri, JVR, Bozak, Rielly, Bernier and Reimer, really just moved on from Dion and Kessel. Lupul was a waste, Komarov started to fall off, Gardiner. they barely even moved much of the top 6.

But we “won” them by sucking. That’s what the draft is designed for, to help sucky teams. In none of those years did we throw in the towel, we tried every single year of our existence to be competitive.

Leafs traded some players before that season and at the TDL that were questionable if the goal was to be a good team. I think it was a disguised tank. Get the good odds while also pretending to be competing that year. If not for McDavid they definitely made some moves to tank for Matthews.
