I think it's going to be a big year for this team.

They're more prepared this season for sure. For the 1st time since probably 2008-2009 season they have a strong group of veterans. Most of the defense is no longer rookies like last season. Even the AHL depth guys they've brought in are better than past years.

I think McLean and Iggulden are better than Whitney and Beck as the top two guys but after that I think the depth now is better. Good comparison to that team!

Ben Holmstrom named captain.

I don't know the guy that well, but this is a wee bit surprising. Would think that Wright and Kearns have a lot more merits for that, but the staff surely knows what it is doing.

Funny though, because when watching that one split scrimmage against PHI, I thought Holmstrom looked lousy - like real lousy.

That's right, those have been the lines and pairings.

Don't believe Collberg is injured. Just seems like he was forgotten.

If it was up to me, I'd do something like this...

Petrov-Quine-Collberg
Whitney-Wright-Beck
Florek-Holmstrom-Halmo
Vaive-Kearns-Johnston

Pelech-Mayfield
Czuczman-Graham
Finn-Carkner.

I always forget about LeBlanc. I know you can only play 6 "veterans" a night though. The ahl has a rule where you can only dress 6 players with I think 300 games of NHL, AHL and Europe experience.

Anyone know how Petrov looked? What about Pelech and Mayfield? Anyone else stand out good or bad? Thanks in advance.

Anywhere
Bridgeport is home today, 5:00 PM vs Saint John's.

Bridgeport is playing in Albany in a few weeks, if not too busy will go. Already have tickets for when Bridgeport plays at Utica in November.
