Brian Boyle

It's honestly funny how hated Boyle is on here.

Yes the only reason the team is winning is that he's been injured. Nah, has nothing to do with the fact that they've played 3 non-playoff teams in desperation mode. Yet someone asked if Gabby gets his name on the Cup. Just

Look they've picked it up which is great and there is no doubt Boyle is way overplayed sometimes. But to hope he remains injured is ridiculous.

He's extremely effective when not used in an offensive setting. He's great at faceoffs. And will succeed more on line 4... We can't expect him to put up 21 goals a year.

yet hes on the power play and plays on a 3rd scoring line consistently

That's on the coach for playing him to his weakness per se. He is offensively inept for the most part. I think most will agree that he is being misplayed. I understand why he is on the line he is though. I'm unsure of who's the line 4 C right now even. I think next year we will see a little more line changing. Maybe then he won't be on a scoring line as a center. Great defensive guy. Not all there offensively.

Boyle has been here for four years. In those four years he's had one surprising 40-game stretch, one solid two week stretch, and one good playoff game.

You guys have low standards if you think Boyle is a good defensive player. Boyle doesnt lock **** down. He slightly wins more faceoffs than he loses on a nightly basis. Oohh.

One guy on here once compared him to Joel Otto. Please. He either never saw Joel Otto play or never saw Brian Boyle play.

It's gotten to the point where people continue to defend him because they refuse to admit how wrong they are. Boyle is dead weight. He's a 9-12 min a night guy who shouldnt see the ice after the 2nd period.

In the 6 games he hasnt played, the opposing team is 2-for-18 on the power play.

And two of those goals were in garbage time in Buffalo. So in five games Boyle hasnt played, the PK is 14-for-14.

I dont care if its a coincidence or not. The team looks better, skates better, defends better, scores more, looks more confident and is tougher to play against when Boyle is out of the lineup.

Whatever. One more season of him. Thanks for the memories.

THIS WHOLE POST

Thank you!

So, looks like the cool thing to do is come to this thread and talk about how the team is playing so well/winning because of Boyle's absence. Then head over to the Tortorella thread and complain about how these wins have come against inferior competition.

Like the X-files used to say....the truth is out there.

I would very much like to get Boyle back as the 4th line C/W playing with Asham and Powe. The guy is very good on the PK and would be a big boost depth wise for the playoffs.

The Rangers have really missed Boyle the last 3 games. His player holds good value around the NHL according to Larry Brooks. The Rangers should move him this summer. Good guy. They should move him and his $1.7M cap hit.

there are players that are more productive with a less of a cap hit... overpaid for what he brings.. they should have kept Halpern and just traded Boyle for a 2ed round pick....

I still suspect, or is it wishful thinking, a Boyle for McBain was in the works until Pitkanen got injured. it may still get done in the offseason.

If you think he is overpaid, Why do you think Boyle is worth a 2nd rd pick to other GM's?

lol torts choosing kreider over boyle?

Logic would dictate that it's a smart choice based on the last few games and the games this team played earlier in the season when he was benched (all wins)

Torts being the idiot he is will have Boyle back in the line up playing 17 minutes a night in no time.

:shakehead

or will Boyle be on the 1st PP when he gets back right when the PP has been scoring as of late :help:

Where would McBain play?

McDonagh-Girardi
Staal-MDZ
Moore-Stralman
McIlrath
Eminger?

McI may not be ready next season.
McD - Girardi
Staal - DZ/Moore
Moore/DZ - McBain/Stralman
Stralman/McBain

McBain will provide the right shot on the PP that is missing and if he pans out as a top 4, makes the D more potent and balanced. It also opens up trade possibilities from a position of strength.

Are you implying that Kreider has had anything at all to do with the past few wins?

Boyle is much better fit for that 4th line spot.

I would rather the Rangers get a good d prospect or a good pick(s) in return for Boyle. Eminger fits the system and in the locker room. He should be retained. Let MDZ and Moore be the puck-movers for now.

Boyle thread is littered with posts about the Rangers winning because of Boyle being out of the lineup.

Theme of the Pyatt thread is the Rangers are winning in spite of Pyatt being on the third line.

Oh, the life of a whipping boy.
