Yes, we can easily do that if we want to. However, you usually buy out players when you need the cap space.

You also do it when the player is nowhere near giving what the salary is warranting. Not having Gallagher on the team and being obligated to play him because of his contract is worth more than the salary cap space.

Exactly. One thing every top team have in common is they don't have one bad contract. I mean, yes, They have a lot of hugh contract, but they don't have players grossly overpaid vs what they brings on the table. Wich Gallagher is maybe overpay by 4 millions. I don't see a player in Florida or Winnpeg ovetpaid by 4 millions over
