Player Discussion Brendan Gallagher

The whole third line has been fantastic, including Dvorak. I kind of wonder what they'll do with Dvorak. He's been so bad until this year, but right now he's doing exactly what's needed of a third line center. Going to be a very, very interesting summer.
Pretty sure he's gone either way
Too many centers on the way

But he's played well enough to get a new contract somewhere
Just not here

These last few months have definitely been appreciated, but it doesn't negate the last 3 years either..

Just wanted to say I'm eating some delicious crow right now. I truly didn't think Gally had the legs to keep being effective. I knew that he had 20-30G potential but that's with choice icetime, linemates, etc - a situation that is good for his stat line but not for the team.

But now, seeing him get his short range one-timer back and some increased mobility, he's back to being that top6 winger that he was with Lehkonen and Danault. I truly thought he was 13th forward material, but he's found his game again. Looking forward to seeing him in the playoffs again.

I'm with you until the top6 comment. When he was that top6 winger it was already terrible that we had nothing better than that. He is not that right now either, he is a top9 winger, effective on line 3

Fair enough. I'd argue he's an average 2nd liner when he's at his best (which he looks like he is currently) but yes he should not be in our top6 ideally. and he won't be next year that's for sure

Gallagher ranks 160th out of 552 forwards in the NHL this season for goals, and my opinion, that he's an NHL calibre forward, is idiotic?

Is that really what you're suggesting here?

Are you serious with this nonsense?

A little update: Gallagher, with his 20th goal of the season, now ranks 106th out of 584 forwards in the league this season for my goals. Only one of the 106 forwards ahead of him has played less than Gallagher, too.

And again, I'm "idiotic" for thinking he is an NHL calibre forward. There was someone a few pages back who claimed if Gallagher were a free agent, he wouldn't receive a contact offer and would have to settle for a PTO.

It's absurd.

I'm on the fence. You're right about the past 3 years, and he certainly hasn't lived up to what we traded to get him.

Buttttt that line has been incredibly consistent, and has been more of a 2nd line than a 3rd year.. 2/3rd line. Could they continue the chemistry, or just a one off this season? He seems to be a well like teammate as well, which I understand doesn't go too far here.

I would be surprised if he stays, because it seems he'll the odd man out with the youngsters coming up....but it wouldn't hurt to have a vet line.

Didn't miss a game (injury) since season 23/24.

77 games played during season 23/24. 5 games missed during season 23/24. Because of suspension.

77 games played during season 24/25.

Gally's finally healthy. At 1909%.

What a warrior, Major props to him for battling back after all the adversity he faced this year. I did not think he could keep up at this level anymore but I am so happy I was wrong.

Gally had a huge rebound style of season..........kudos to him!!
I think we all have to admit his last few seasons have been pretty awful. He did not produce and had many injuries....
Now, he has rebounded, and I think he and the team, have found a way to play hard, and used his mom's passing as a motivating point.

Glad for Galley he has reinvented himself. He has a huge effect on the team with his never quit mantra.

I don't remember anybody proclaiming Gallagher was not a NHL caliber player. He just can't play on a 2nd line anymore while he is paid the salary for a 2nd line player. It's not a problem for us but it would be a problem for a team like Colorado.

I don't know how much longer he can last but he's a warrior. Some people didn't think he could keep playing like this past 30 years old and look at him now. Without him the Habs don't make the playoffs.

He certainly cant keep playing like he used to, hes barely moving on the ice. He used to be a near game-changing winger in his best days.

He still goes to the right spots on the ice, but hes nowhere near as effective.
