Not Gally's fault the coach is playing him in the wrong situations
Who is forcing the coach to play him?

I listened to a pod cast where I heard the coach saying he doesn't know what to do pertaining to the injuries. That is something that a coach should never ever say, that is not inspiring and shows a lack of confidence, not a good look.

Whomever gave him a 'A' before the season started.

Depends how it was said I think, but MSL looked very discouraged during last game. Lots of worthy "facepalming", "I want to die" and others gifs can be extracted from that one game.

I think he might be reaching his capacity to manage all the "wtf am I supposed to do with this bunch" trauma.

You mean those fans who start joyously singing on those rare occasions we go up two goals or lustily boo Bedard whenever he touches? Very classy indeed.

Our focus should become rivetted on the 2024 draft.
I'd argue that, while this is important, our focus should be the 2025 draft, where we can still position ourselves to add to the 2 first rounder, 2 second rounders and 2 third rounders we already have if, given the highest probability, the CAL first rounder falls in that draft?

It might be easier to get extra first rounder for Monahan in 2025, for example, at the trade deadline. 2025 seems faraway when you have an interesting crop players at the upcoming draft.

We might be more able to trade Anderson for a first rounder and a prospect in the offseason, with the Cap ceiling rising for serenest year animist likely (perhaps even more) for the following season(s). Fetching that 1st rounder in 2025 as well would give us four first rounders, along with the CAL first rounder and the extra one we received for Monahan.

With both Dvorak and Savard ending their contract after the 2024-2025 season, we could potentially get a couple of 2nd rounders at the 2025 draft for the lot of them -- at the least, a second rounder and a third rounder!

Entering the 2025 offseason, before the draft and before the UFA market opens, Hughes could be armed with as many draft assets as four first rounders, three second rounders and three third rounders! On top of that, the Habs GM would have a clearer picture of the projected ceiling for several of his best and lesser prospects, able to establish a redundancy from which to trade.

At the very least, we could package something for an impact forward within the age bracket of our young core without sacrificing our own first round pick if it falls again within the top-10, or, even, the top-5!

Slafkovsky + Dach (however he turns out after rehabbing from his latest injury) + Reinbacher (thankfully, his particular knee injury just requires rehab and not reconstructive surgery after a tear) + Newhook + 2024 first round draft pick + other reclamation project? + massive haul of prospects and trade acquisitions at the 2025 draft + Suzuki + Caufield + Roy + RHP + Guhle + Xhekaj + Mailloux + Hutson (I assume both Harris and Barron will become trade fodder to make room for this quartet of Ds and Reinbacher) + Matheson, as a potential glue veteran of this D-Corps will be a good basis for a future contending roster.

We'll only need to continue developing our prospects and Slotin a starting G after the 2025 draft!

By 2027-2028, weight to start making some noise in the postseason and that would leave us three years to actually win a 25th Cup before absolutely needing to address whether we extend Suzuki or not!

So,here's to a 25th Stanley Cup by the end of the 2029-2030 postseason.

That would make me 60 for the occasion! Nice gift as everything else falls apart ;)

The contract and respected vet status.

He'll eventually be sent down in a year or two if he doesn't LTIRetire and keep playing like that but they will give all the time a vet is entitled to. And we are not the only team to do that like are people even following the NHL or they just watch our games and call it a day?

Where this is a will, there is a way, need to get creative, show some ingenuity. You can't hold on to player that is not contributing, that's counterproductive. You got to learn to let go,pull the plug in a manner of speaking. It wouldn't the first time a player is dispatched in one form or another.

Good game plan. I enjoyed the read. Its always refreshing to read a post that has perspective and reality. As last night’s game amply showed, we have a very thin layer of top end talent and any interruption of that talent leads to dismaying results. But I remain optimistic that between the young talent we have already accumulated and the high draft choices we will almost assuredly have at our disposal, our long journey in the hinterland will be coming to an end.

As for being 60, you’re a youngster. I have sport equipment older than you.

Enjoyed your post.

This read like an article. Good read

Like any veteran, he’ll have good moments here and there but those are too far in between.

He was better against the Wild but he’s too slow to be on pucks before the opponent.

Got to the puck first 2/3 times last night, which created the chance for Anderson but you don’t see him around the net anymore which is what brought him success.

Too bad he couldn’t age a little bit better, even while being overpaid it would have been okay if he could hit 15/20 goals in the two years before falling off the map.

Sadly, he already fell. He’s clearly the worst forward on this team with four years to go.

Hopefully, his pride kicks in, and he retires, and we reward him for his loyalty and character with an assistant coaching job. Either he replaces Burrows, or Molson eats some salary for a while, or both.

You could sell your sports equipment to Play It Again, Chester. There is probably an old guy pushing a walker who could repurpose your crusty athletic supporter.

He's a warrior
I don't see him having another 30 goals season, but I'm happy for him right now
First few games , he looked he could not keep up at the ahl let alone the nhl .

Last two games he looked like a legit player that can contribute . May it continue .
I said this team before the dach injury can surprise and fight for a playoff spot.
Now I don’t think they can , but will enjoy the progress and the wins when they come.

P.S i believe Dach is thé further number 1 c of this team and think he can become a star in this league. Just hope he recovers well

Before he got injured last year early in the he keep surprising everyone with is speed, he has looked awful since camp but ever since he score he looking better and better every time he touches the puck, if he can maintain type maybe moving him could be less expensive…

Playing like the Gallagher in the Bubble. He was outstanding then.

Gally shutting haters mouths. ;)
He is killing it eh.....first good game in 3 years!!
All jokes aside, good to see him get some results, it is great for him...and the team.
Showing he has some gas left, kinda sorta ....he is proof, go to the net, and good things will happen.

He's still going to keep working very hard regardless of how much he has declined. Skating will hold him back but he still has ability to score 10-20 goals and 30-40 pts. Certainly not going to live up to that contract though.

Nice to see him score. 8 goals in 37 games last year (prorates to 18 goals). 14 min/game last year and so far this year, it's 11 min/game.
