Rosters should be the exact same, if the tournament is not completely restarted. Too much deviation would make me question whether any results in the future would be fraudulent.

I would actually like to see players like Raty, Bordeleau, etc who missed because of Covid

Wouldn't automatically assume NHL teams would release players they didn't release the first time around.

Likely they need to keep the same rosters as far as possible.

Agree that it currently feels like more of a longshot than a solid plan. But for the players' sake I hope they do it.
I noticed that at least a few Swedish players, are a little meh about it.
Claiming they would lose a lot of what they need the summer to build up, for a long season.

IIHF needs money. Two of the biggest sources of it for the federation are WHC and WJC U20. The organization can just get in financial troubles with one of these tournaments not happened. TSN and WJC organizators need money too. So I think the summer tournament is pretty possible.

While I'm sure Hockey Canada and the IIHF would like to get their mitts on the cash that only a Canada hosted tournament can generate, with that being said, any profits that a Canada hosted tournament garners for Bell Media (owners of TSN/RDS) amounts to nothing more than a rounding error on their quarterly reports. basically it's lunch money with a few martinis.

I think that the World juniors are back in Europe next year, correct?

I agree. Same rosters, except for injuries. If a player is injured, they can be replaced. If a player had to miss the tournament due to COVID or injuries before, they can be added. None of this stuff where a player is a lot higher thought of six months later and now gets a spot.

That sounds fair.

How would they actually enforce this? What if a federation simply states that a player can not participate due to injury (based on either excessive exaggeration or simply lying) in hopes of replacing him with a better one, one who was perhaps even already playing in the NHL at the time?

LOL. Of course you do.

What's funny is how little critical thinking you apply to your posts. As if Canada wouldn't benefit the most from such a scenario. Might have to rethink Wright though. He might be too concerned with his big payday to play in a junior tournament.

If roster changes is allowed:

Raymond, Wallinder, Sjödin and Lekkerimäki in.

Forsjäll, Åke, Stenman, Sjöberg out.

Yes im keeping Sjöholm. Guy looked great with HV71. Im suprised.

Also keep in mind that Lysell did not play for us those 2 games.

No Exactly. Only ice-hockey.
It would make too much sense. But the IOC wants a big draw for the winter games. Even if the NHLers don't show up, hockey is STILL probably the single biggest draw of the games. I mean, look at what they are going up against... cross country skiing? Curling? That thing they did in Cool Runnings? Yeah, you know what - this Slovakia vs Latvia hockey game doesn't seem too terrible in comparison...

Yes and no.. the good nations wouldn't have too many guys at both.

Czechs would for sure and maybe Sale does both as an example.

My guess is that it doesn't end up a true best on best... lots of guys (like Nemc, Jiricek, Wright etc) will be high draft picks a month earlier and I coudl see the teams saying no to this and to be ready for camp. If that's the case, it gets watered down and becomes meanngless fast. Eg. are they seriously going to send Power after he won the World's and went to the Olympics? Same with Raymond... he keeps this up and he may win the Calder... does he really want to go to a U20 tourney when he's such a good NHL player? No idea.

I also hate summer tournaments.lol

What if say Jiricek or Nemec don't sign their ELC? they could just say I'll sign after the torunment. Do teams have control?
