That's the thing, you're not much different from Agent Zub when it comes to trying to broaden your perspectives on a situation. You're not exactly open to the notion that EK didn't do anything wrong.

As the details come out, it is not definitive that its less and less likely that Hoffman's gf was innocent. Only way to prove it was her was to link an IP address to Hoff's gf, which is incredibly different to do. There's numerous statements that show her to be an irrational person who had a childish dislike of EK's wife. But no one can prove anything, it's a he-said-she-said situation.

The only definitive thing anyone can say was that it was an incredibly shitty situation and that we don't know exactly what happened. Based on that it doesn't make sense to question either Hoff's or EK character/leadership. I don't, I'm not sure if other posters do, but you've made it clear that you question EK as a person even though we don't know what happened.
I didn’t say difinitive, I said less and less likely. As in she was already engaging using her own phone in childish texting, yet it turns out that she was also sending 1000’s of harassing messages from an untraceable burner or something on the side. There is a big difference between being petty and childish, and being pathological while savvy enough to stay untraceable. This is why things didn’t go any further for the Karlssons, but the Hoffman’s continued their pursuit of social innocence, looking into legal means as well. Not exactly what guilty folk do.

It seems a bit trite to sum it up as a shitty situation when one party was factually responsible for the shitty situation of the other though.

You say that no one can prove anything, but that’s the point right? One party levelled an accusation on the other, and the other suffered tremendous social and career consequences for it. When proof was demanded by one party, the other party declined to do so and turned the page on the whole thing.

It will be interesting to see how the Formenton situation pans out as well. I have learned over the years that condemning people without evidence is a popular pastime.

Well, it kept you from posting a single weird hot take about Brady…. Silver linings ;)

Lol so you're bringing all this up after 5 years just to protect Brady's honour? And accusing me of hero worship?

This is too much haha. Are there no mirrors in your house?

The bolded isn't true by any means, guilty people plead their case all the time. Even you saying that one side was factually responsible for the situation shows your bias and refusal to look at the situation in a different way. There's evidence that shows Hoff's partner was immature and not on friendly terms with the Karlssons from her perspective.

Are you aware of how easy it is to use a different IP address that isn't from your own home to post messages? This doesn't require any tech savvy skills by any means (this is coming from someone who is dumb af when it comes to computers, I'm horrible lol). Hoffman's partner received disgusting threats, that is absolutely messed up, but there were absolutely zero career consequences for either of them. Caryk is still working in her profession and Hoffman has went on to have career seasons, he's still in the league as well.

You may not say that either side was guilty, but you are definitively saying that EK was responsible for breaking up the room when you don't know exactly what happened.

Yes, different strokes for different folks.

You're a lawyer. You're probably mire used to settling your differences with words.

EK and Hoffman are pro athletes that have displayed jacked up masculinity for 15 years. One guy has been wronged. And one guy has been accused of being the instigator of the wrong doing.

Pardon the pun but they're in an arena where being charged with assault isn't on the table and violence in the form of fist fights is common if not encouraged

And who initiated what tells me something

Maybe that's just me though...different folks for different folks

Both EK and (to a much lesser extent) Hoffman are extremely good at hockey but I wouldn't consider either of them macho men. Neither are anything close to tough guys.

I'm just saying a lot of people respond to trauma through repression and avoidance. So I'm not sure you can read too much into who jumped who.

Thanks for sharing your perspective. I personally don’t equate being immature and on unfriendly terms with another young woman with the pathology necessary to send 1000’s of hateful and harassing messages from a burner ip. It’s not a refusal to consider it, its me considering it and then tossing it for being unlikely compared to the obvious alternative.

Personally I think that the social consequences that the Hoffman’s dealt with was pretty consequential. Getting hate mail and death threats based on an unproven allegation, one that the accusers don’t even want to pursue, is a pretty terrible consequence in my opinion. I mean the city seemed to think that hate mail towards the Karlsson’s was pretty consequential no?

I am also baffled that you think that neither person suffered any career consequences when both were literally run out of town based on the allegations (I.e. Mike lost his job with Sens over this). Hoffman has spoken publicly about how difficult it was for him and how he was viewed as a locker room issue guy because of it. Not to mention all the media attentions at the time about his tanked trade value, his pariah status, and limited contract options. The GM in Florida even talked about needing/wanting to meet them before signing Mike due to the drama in Ottawa (gave a glowing report on the couple as well).

The fact that both are working and have seemingly moved past the consequences of the incident speak more to their own perseverance than any lack of consequences to begin with.

I am aware that it’s possible to send things from a different ip address, but sending 1000’s of messages in hiding, and then vehemently inviting investigation and proof, is simply not behaviour that guilty people engage in for the most part. If she was guilty but got away, it’s unlikely that she would then egg on police and the Karlssons to find proof. Again, it’s possible that she is this pathological and Mike is protecting her, but after considering this be the more obvious alternative I have rejected it.

If the Hoffmans were comfortable in Ottawa and had to move, that must suck, but Hoffman has not had an issue finding any work in the league since the issue based off what we can observe the past few years. He may have been viewed as a locker room issue at the time, but management in Florida (like you said) didn't have an issue with him and have documented accounts of being fine with him. His trade value being tanked doesn't exactly influence him getting moved, clearly because he was moved twice and signing a contract after his last deal expired. In terms of actual career consequences, Hoffman hasn't 'suffered'. Caryk received hateful msgs, absolutely serious issue, career wise she still has a $400 000 net-worth in her professions in real estate and travel.

Caryk can invite the cops and the most specialized IT people in Canada if she'd like, but unless someone was following her and knew her whereabouts for a long time, its literally near impossible to investigate.

Also, remember, the Karlsson's filed for a peace bond/fancy restraining order. That's quite different from looking to prove that Caryk was the harasser. They wanted to be left alone and the order seemed to have worked, so why pursue something that can cause them further stress. I don't know, i'm spitballing, just as you are, but based off my speculating, I'm' not willing to judge either player's leadership.

My whole point is the following, even if you are considering one scenario over the other based on likeliness, its speculation despite not knowing the facts and by choosing one, you're speculating without evidence. I haven't done that with any other player, and will continue to do so, but its the same standard you're holding other posters to. Ftr, I don't think Brady is a bad leader based on what Agent Zub has said, I blame lack of accountability on management foremost and don't think there's even enough info/time to evaluate Tkachuk's C.

In sum, I don’t agree with your assessment of consequence, your interpretation of the legal side, or pretty much anything in this post at all to be honest as it pertains to the EK/Hoffman situation.

However, we’re shared our positions and I agree that it’s time to move on.

Go Brady thread!

Excellent back check by Brady tonight on the pp breaking up the 2 on 1.

Paging @Agent Zub did you notice?

I actually did! That was sick, some real captain shit. Even last game he made some big defensive plays.

Which is why critique and get frustrated because a big part of it is simply his effort. You guys think I can't be objective or hate Brady or something, when I just know he can do better. Like he has been last two games. Simply because of effort and caring about making defensive plays.

That was my favourite Brady game, he was dialed in all 3 zones.

That backcheck on the 2 on 1 did more to fire up and inspire the boys than anything else he could have done.

Also that 2nd goal was nasty, scared the leafs defender into giving him the puck and then maybe the nastiest snipe this year.

Even if he didn't score twice it was an impact all around game. Thumbs up.

Tonight Brady was awesome.
I thought he also played an amazing game vs. The Rangers December 2nd. I thought that night he really took the team on his back. He had 8 shots on goal in that game and 2 goals and an assist. He scored the game winner in overtime that night.

I'm prolly talking out my arse rn, but the Leafs looked scared of Brady today. Physically dominant throughout the game in every period, and not just him hitting, he was just aggressively after the puck and blocking passing lanes everywhere.

Compare Leafs' over the hill, overpaid captain to Brady and you could see in their respective teams. The Senators were not intimidated by the Leafs and it showed in their play last night.

This is great. Wonder if he noticed on his first goal when he trucked a guy, which lead to a turnover then tipped in Hamonics blast. That's a playoff style goal. He is one of the only players in the league capable of doing it consistently. Leaf fans were sure to ignore. It. Marner will never score like that.

No need it happens all the time if you're paying attention.

Nope both his goals where he creates the turnover with the hard forcheck would have. Specifically the first one.

Wow lol. Hard not to take this as pure fandom and hyperbole. Are you making a case for his defensive acumen "if you pay attention"

My initial comment was a joke... but do go on how well Tkachuk defends "all the time". Use small words so I can follow.

It was in response to said poster who suggests that he sees things no one else does.

Lol you get that I was complimenting Brady right?

It doesn't happen all the time, Brady's defensive effort and effectiveness the last two games has been markedly different from most of the season.

If Brady and Chabot play more like this, we will win more games. If they don't we will lose games and never make the playoffs.

f*** me for wanting this team to win more games and make the playoffs ?
