I like his draft record, he’s actually hit on some last round picks. Dubas was an awful drafter besides Knies, so many wasted picks over the years.
Like I said Treviling seems more role driven, not the go-to decision maker. He’ll have input but Shanny probably has a lot of oversight on roster decisions, especially this off season..
Trevilling also has more support with guys like Pridham and other resources like player development.
I mean literally the same thing but the opposite is also happening, but yes carry on. And if you mean me, I don't give a shit about dubas, but when you make a big change like replacing a gm after that clown show week, it better be worth it, and it wasn't.It’s funny seeing those with the blind love for Dubas now with the blind hatred for his replacement.
Predictable but funny none the less.
Man you people who hated in Dubas for overpaying for the star players, I'd really like to see you guys defend this:
- James Neal
- Jacob Markstrom
- Blake Coleman
- 10th overall pick for Travis Hamonic
- Signing Tkachuk to. $7x3 deal which is one of the reasons why he asked to be traded
- Coaches hired: Glen Gulutzan and Bill Peters
He's not completely terrible ala Chiarelli. I will give him a great 15 and 16 draft and the Hanifin + Lindholm for Hamilton trade is a home rub.
Deserves the benefit of the doubt but this isn't even a lateral move from what we had.
Treliving loses one fo the core to free agency, trades on the young players for two overrated players, signs them to insane contracts and then they miss the playoffs. That could also happen.
I mean maybe I was expecting too much, actually getting a legit gm and/or coach for once but yea I actually agree with you.Of course its a lateral move
We moved a middle of the pack GM who didnt want to be here for one who wants to be here
Top tier GMs dont come to Toronto. This team is straight ass (ownership, the coaches, the players) and has way to much pressure for any top tier GM to want to come here

Well he could do what he did in Calgary, and trade a 25yr old superstar for a 29 year old star, sign him to a massively inflated contract, and then proceed to miss the playoffs. What’s the worst than can happen?
Treliving overpays the core, they get 100 points, make the playoffs and lose in the first round. It will be like Dubas never left. That’s the bar at the moment. Anything more is gravy.
You’re assuming he can’t learn from his mistakes? You don’t think he would’ve handled some things differently in hindsight?
Seems like our guys are getting plucked, so there should be room. I'm really interested to see what he does with Keefe.I wouldn't be surprised if there are more changes in the upcoming weeks. GMs love to bring in their guys and people they worked with close. I do hope Pridham can stick around though.

No choice but to give him a chance, but, to use a popular word in this thread, I get how some fans feel.........

his old man is close to Tannenbaum and the Rogers family from all accountsHow could this be nepotism?
Yea, they are doing great things with the Flames organization. He's a master of keeping talent.Treliving draft record from 2014 to 2016 included Matthew Tkachuk and Sam Bennett both playing for the Stanley Cup and well as Norris Dman Adam Fox.

They won a playoff series in 2015 (brad’s first season) and 2022 (right before losing Gaudreau and tkachuk). I wouldn’t give him much credit for 2015 tbh (unless Derek Engelland and mason raymond and Jonas hiller are considered pivotal pieces).
Under brad tre the flames missed the playoffs 4 times and made it 5 times. Yippee
You named a home run trade for Treliving. Now name one for Kyle.
I’m guessing people don’t understand the difference between the 2 markets. No players want to play in Calgary, so you have to overpay to keep them. We just had a terrible GM who overpays everyone so they can be friends with himWell he could do what he did in Calgary, and trade a 25yr old superstar for a 29 year old star, sign him to a massively inflated contract, and then proceed to miss the playoffs.
I voted for Dubas to return because he seemed to learn from his mistakes. Watch how these ideologues can’t do the same. I’m already bored.Funny how you don't extend this grace to Dubas.
