Was extremely happy to hear about our playstyle changing and that was the biggest negative for me about the Dubas tenure.
Not enough fast north-south play, too much curling back in the offensive zone, not enough chipping pucks past defenders and winning 2v1 footraces, not enough total chaos and bodies to the front of the net. Just a very predictable flow, lacking in both consistent physicality and versatility.
Whether it was a Dubas, Keefe or even Shanny design, I think it sounded better in principal then what would actually transpire on the ice against the best teams over 7 games.
Treliving actually had a strong team in Calgary last season that was letdown by a horrific season by Markstrom. They finished top 3 in both xGF% and Shot attempts %. which shows they were pretty strong 5v5.
