hey dubas we have a new GM who walked in like a BOSS 
Im fine moving Nylander for the right price. But if Moving Nylander is the only major shake up this team is due for another 1st round exit. Atleast fire Keefe ffs.

Maple Leafs hire Brad Treliving to be team’s next general manager: ‘A very exciting day’
The former GM of the Calgary Flames will replace Kyle Dubas after a nearly two-week search for a new boss.
A rival executive told the Star he thought the hiring was “awesome” and that Treliving was a “bright, hard working, good person (and) open minded.”
Treliving is 53, married to Julie, with daughters Ryann and Reese. He is the son of Boston Pizza founder Jim Treliving of Dragon’s Den fame.
And he might feel like he’s come into a dragon’s den when he’s introduced officially Thursday, given the state of the team and with what is before him:
• A team loaded with talent, but one that can’t get it done in the playoffs.
• Calls to be made on whether to extend the contracts of Matthews and Nylander, or perhaps trade one of the team’s high-priced talent — including Marner — if extensions aren’t in the cards, or if salary cap room is deemed more important.
• A decision on coach Sheldon Keefe who is on the last year of his contract.
• A front office with employees hired by Dubas who may feel uneasy about their future. One, Jason Spezza, quit the day Dubas was fired.
That’s all on top of the normal business of a general manager this time of year, including:
• The NHL’s combine — where prospective draft picks meet with teams and show their fitness — in Buffalo next week
• The June 28-29 draft in Nashville where the Leafs have the 28th overall and a fifth- and sixth-round pick, with most of the rest traded as part of deadline deals by Dubas the past couple of years.
• Free agency July 1 with the Leafs seeing up to 10 players who could leave as unrestricted free agents, and a handful more restricted free agents like Ilya Samsonov to be dealt with.

The Leafs’ hiring comes with question marks. Dubas was Shanahan’s first choice to return, but that ran aground when contract talks fell apart. Treliving is a late-coming second choice with no history of building a champion anywhere. His Flames won two playoff rounds in his nine years at the helm, and Treliving and coach Darryl Sutter essentially walked the plank when the Flames failed to make the playoffs this year.
But championship GMs rarely strike gold twice in a second location. Neither Brian Burke nor Cliff Fletcher could reproduce the magic touch in Toronto that saw Burke’s Anaheim Ducks win the Stanley Cup in 2007 and Fletcher’s Calgary Flames take the title in 1989.
In fact, only two GMs in NHL history have had winners in two locations, the most recent being Jim Rutherford’s successes in Pittsburgh (2016, 2017) and Carolina (2006). Before him, you have to go back to the early days of the league with Tommy Gorman managing three teams (the original Ottawa Senators, the Montreal Maroons and Chicago Blackhawks) in the 1920s and ’30s.

The whole idea behind getting rid of dubas was not to double down on stupidity
Keefe is a major problem. I don't want a coach who calls out stupid performance and then the following day does "takesy backsy"
More importantly dont want a coach who gets freakin OUTCOACHED every playoffs

Yup, very excited to see what happens. Been a very long time since we had a change. Ideally I'd like to bring Schenn back, he was a beast but Gio was very slow in the playoffs. Rielly, Liljegren, McCabe, Brodie are all pretty much locks. Bring back Schenn and I'd like to go after a guy like Mayfield. That blue line will be pretty big and physical.
Brad Treliving feels like the safe choice for Maple Leafs GM. Is he?
Brad Treliving is experienced as a GM and knows how to handle a Canadian market. Does this make him the right choice for the Maple Leafs?
In a summer that will see the Leafs with plenty of cap space and plenty of holes to fill, will Treliving spend wisely? Or will he make similarly risky long-term bets that seek to fill needs now but could cause problems later?
Dubas was hammered for William Nylander’s second NHL contract, a six-year deal, with a $6.9 million cap hit that came after a long dispute.
The second deal that Treliving signed Matthew Tkachuk to came with basically the same price tag as Nylander — $7 million — but lasted only three years. That led to his exit from the Flames last summer in that famed swap for Huberdeau and Weegar.
Treliving scored a deal when he locked up Johnny Gaudreau for six years and a $6.75 million cap hit in the fall of 2016. But then lost Gaudreau for nothing when, after a 115-point season, he walked as a free agent last summer.
How will he proceed now with Nylander, who can sign an extension on July 1, and more importantly for the Leafs, Auston Matthews? Can Treliving convince Matthews to stick around for the long haul? And if not, then what?

Treliving has shown an ability to consistently build very capable groups on defence, a priority for the Leafs this summer. His team drafted the still underrated Rasmus Andersson, scored from a second-round pick via Vancouver for Sven Baertschi, and then signed him to a six-year deal with value ($4.55 million).
Andersson was the Flames’ top pick in 2015. They followed that up with Oliver Kylington, who’s become a useful NHL defenceman, and then nabbed Andrew Mangiapane, who scored 35 goals two seasons ago, with a sixth-round pick. The following year, Treliving’s Flames scored a future MVP finalist in Tkachuk with the sixth pick and also pulled Fox out in the third round.
Calgary hasn’t gotten a whole lot out of the draft since. (The Flames also took Sam Bennett fourth in 2014, passing on the likes of Nylander, Nik Ehlers, Dylan Larkin, and David Pastrnak.)
The Leafs didn’t draft particularly well under Dubas or his predecessor, Lou Lamoriello.
The Treliving hire has shades of the Lamoriello takeover in 2015. That is, of an experienced general manager (the most experienced in Lamoriello’s case) coming in to calm the waters in Toronto.
The sea is obviously pretty choppy at the moment for the Leafs after another playoff disappointment, with plenty of huge decisions required imminently by Treliving. His experience suggests he won’t be fazed by making said decisions.
Shanahan is betting his job on it. Betting his job and the future of the Leafs that Treliving is a better choice than Dubas. He’s betting on someone with the sheen of safety. Treliving will need to prove he’s actually worthy of that rep, and whether that will be enough for a franchise that hasn’t won the Stanley Cup in more than 50 years.

Realistically BT is plan C given how long the process took. Either it was a done deal a month ago and all the Chiarelli and Bergevin Skype meetings were just theatre to make it look like they did their due diligence or they were waiting for an answer from Nill/Armstrong/McPhee/Wilson and got turned down.
I think BT was plan A when the original plan A fell through... I just don't think they had a plan aside from Dubas by the looks of things.

Everything Dubas said in his presser is suspect and open to question is he goes to another club this year so we will

Burke “I think it’s a great hire, I really do”. For what that’s worth, said he’s great with budgets, great with a vision of the team, gains respect and works his ass off.
