William Nylander 521 NHL games 177 goals
vs
Mitch Marner 507 NHL games 168 goals

554 points vs. 430
690 pk minutes vs. 55
Selke votes in 5 straight seasons including a finalist spot this year.

Marner was about $1m overpaid on his last deal but there is a big gap between those two guys. I love Willy but he's a 1-way scoring winger who looks like he'll top out around a point per game.

If I'm signing them today, it would be Willy $8.5m-$9m (Forsberg, Horvat, Larkin), Marner $10m-$10.5m (Tkachuk, Huberdeau).

I didn't feel confident with Treliving's abilities as a GM at his press conference. I just feel something is lacking. I hope he proves me wrong.

This seems more true with every passing day. I'm happy we moved on from Dubas, but reports suggested Dubas wanted to change the core, Shanny wanted it in place. Treliving comes in, reports suggest the coach and core are coming back.

Shanny has 2 years tops, there needs to be a serious run in the post-season. I'm talking Finals appearance, or he's probably gone.

No bombast. Obvious excellent interpersonal skills. Smoothly cagey while speaking in a homespun style. It's almost frustrating how cagey he is, he gives away almost nothing.

Listening to him at the press conference I've. a lot more confidence in him than I had with Dubus. It feels like it's night and day.

Nylander 8 x 9.6

Question for everyone : )

If Murray isn't bought out by before July 1st (end of buyout period) does that mean Treliving is confident a trade can be worked out post July 1st with lesser detriment than buyout to the team?

Kampf is ok as 4C imo. I'd bring him back if it makes sense money wise. We know he's not a scorer but defensively he helps, especially faceoffs and Pks

Kerfoot I'm fine letting walk for a guy who plays a tougher game who can still chip in

A lot of teams have made good moves

Where’s ours?

This guy better not just sit around, resign kerfoot and kampf, promote Liljegren to top 4 and sign like OEL to be bottom pairing. Obviously just hypothetical, but that would just be shuffling deck chairs, which is exactly what dubas did

I think the signing bonuses can get it into the 8s....

Interesting that Acciari is not mentioned there

I did think that by now, there would have been something done
My thinking on Acciaria is that he was a unicorn to Dubas but not to Treeliving. Dubas valued him enough to trade for him and would have given him more just based on the fact he was pretty much the only forward with some jam. Maybe BT is going to go for a lot more of the Acciari types and doesn't want to over pay him...just a guess.

He is the worst piece we got. This team has become a complete mess since we hired a guy that had a resume full of failures.

Not saying that’s what we should do, but it would definitely be a move that would have some thinking behind it. There’s no point playing him bottom pairing next year, he wont add value to us and he’s been doing it for 3 years, next years the year he either steps up, or I’d deal him. We did the same thing with dermott and ruined his developement too

He will play on bottom pairing because its what he is... if we forgot hes a 1st round pick and take in consideration hes a 7 round pick, do you react the same way with him? The answer is no

Leafs didn't ruined detmott development, he reach his max level... he had limited ability and push as far he can with every tool he had but was not enough. If you just dont have the tool require, whatever what the team doing with you, when you will reach your limit, your reach your limit thats it...
