They have some great players but they never had that special player up front who meets the moment - Kane, Crosby/Malkin, Kucherov, etc.

That always seemed to be the difference to me.

In 2011 Bergeron and a rookie Marchand were the only guys on that team still on Bruins/in the league. Fair to call the team chokers.
Krejci as well on the bruins, and don’t forget Lucic and Seguin!

I said the Bruins were "paper tigers" in this thread way back in January, and everyone was jumping all over me telling me I was wrong and stupid:

I also posted in this February thread, again voicing concern over the Bruins in the playoffs:

3 Presidents Trophy in last 10 years - many choke jobs. Like i said, FRAUDS!

Just goes to show that the NHL should adopt the NFL system of allowing the top seeded team in each conference a first round bye in the playoffs. But the NHL is just too lazy to adopt anything that progressive.

How does it show that? Clearly the first round is worth playing if even the best regular seasons teams ever aren't guaranteed to win.

Why should they get a bye? If they're as good as their seeding indicates, they should have no problems dispatching an 8 seed lmao

Bruins have been an elite franchise for a while, regardless of cup numbers.

But that all ends moving forward. Enjoy the next decade of dogshit

And the NFL just changed heir system so that there are fewer teams with a bye. They're not particularly committed ti having the tol teams get a bye. It's probably only a matter of time until they add another playoff teama dn getbod the bye altogether.

The Bruins team is a prestige franchise with a lot of money and support behind it, even committing to a rebuild, they'll be back sooner than most people here think, IMO.

I've rooted for a trash franchise for a long time, and take some comfort in this: You can still have a lot of fun going to games and cheering for a team that stinks.

I foresaw the Bruins losing in the playoffs way back in January.

However, I am not happy that I was proven correct.

Because now Toronto has a clear path to the Stanley Cup, and I doubt I am alone when I say that is the worst possible outcome.

Maybe Carolina is a major obstacle. Not really I agree.

I have no clue how anyone can say Boston`s lineup isnt anything special? Boston was the clear-cut favourite to come out from the east. 3 scoring-lines and one helluwa D-core. Also goaltending was top-notch before Florida came...

Zacha-Krejci-Pastrnak
Hall-Coyle-Debrusk
Frederik-Nosek-Hathaway

Imo the thing about Boston is they were absolutely an elite team, but they also got incredible goaltending in the regular season. Without that incredible goaltending they're merely an elite team - still quite good - but beatable.

Ullmark couldn't maintain that level of play into the playoffs and even the Bruins couldn't overcome bad goaltending.

No team can.
