They’ve been a strong team pretty consistently for a decade. Not every team is going to be the Blackhawks or the Lightning. Winning even one cup is hard.

How long was WSH great before winning?

How about STL?

ANA was great for ages, only had one to show for it.

Never mind SJS.

Bruins core have been great. They wont go down as one of the absolute best of the era, but they were still GREAT.

This thread just proves how some fans are living in some delusion, they're not chokers they won a cup. There is awfully lot franchises which didn't clear 1st round ever even paid like they should

Idk. Boston's roster on paper NEVER impresses me. Yet they're ALWAYS in the mix. I feel like they're more of a 'sum is greater than their parts' rather than the opposite.

If anything, this core has overachieved, and if this is the proverbial nail in the coffin, good riddance!
I agree, although their roster was pretty strong this year after the deadline with Orlov

Only cause the refs couldn't find their whistles that series, Bruins got away with so much shit all series long and the canucks were completely decimated by injuries.
Yeah they weren't even playing hockey that series, just thuggery

They over-achieved a little bit in my opinion due to insane goaltending. Once their goalies cooled down, they came back down to earth.

No one expected them to do much this year; the core is all very old and they seemed like they were in the same boat as the Pittsburgh and Washington. We forget now, but they were the sexy pick to fall out of the playoffs at the start of the season. What happened is the massively overperformed and then reality hit in the playoffs.

Ah there it is. The OP was completely nonsensical but this explains it.

It's still nonsensical, but at least I see OP's lack of logic. Feels over reals

I'm definitely biased but that doesn't mean I'm wrong. Besides 2011, Bruins have consistently lost to lower seeded teams, some of them in terrible fashion. Also, many will argue 2011 cup was won on the back of Tim Thomas, who had the one of the greatest finals by a goalie in NHL history.

Give the net back to Swayman next season. Ulmark is just another Jim Carey who benefited playing behind an all star blueline. If anyone thinks that Ulmark is going to repeat this season they are out to lunch. I bet Ulmark becomes a 30 game backup again next season.

You mean to say if you take out their cup win they haven't won the Cup?

Awe shucks, LA and Chicago must be a bunch of losers then too, take away their cups from 2010-2015

You guys are forgetting that core won a cup? The shit takes you vultures have make this place a shitshow.

Also went to another Cup finals.

I'm sure I heard their team was sick earlier in this series too, not making excuses for them either but if true that would explain their loss to some degree.

Most of them are fans of teams that haven't won a cup since 1993, or 1967..or EVER...like a bunch of bottom feeding hyenas moving in for the scraps of a kill. This is their Stanley Cup. It's all they have.

How did they manage to do that? Care to list the guys? I believe one of them is Hall and the other is Zaka?
4.5m bonuses are deferred to the following cap year. Bergeron and Krejci add up to $4.5 million.

In hindsight, this. Having 2 Zdeno Charas as your 1C and 2C doesn't quite cut it.

Overhyped, way too overhyped.

I agree they were overhyped, but this also doesn't let the Bruins off the hook either: They were up 3-1 in the series against a very beatable Florida team, and despite all their playoff experience they choked. Hard.

This thread is very excessive.
The bruins have been among the best NHL teams for a solid decade or so, and won the Stanley cup in that time.
I’m sure they’d have liked to have a better showing this year, but even as a Leaf fan, someone with no love for the Bruins, I’m not going to sit here and act like this core didn’t give their everything to Boston.

Bergeron is/was a total class act and one of the great players of a generation. Marchand turned himself from basically a better Matt Cooke into one of the greatest blends of skill and pest we’ve seen in a very long time which is nothing short of remarkable.

Their younger core guys like Pastrnak and McAvoy are absolutely top tier players, through and through.

Boston has nothing to be embarrassed about.
