Braves also traded for a comp pick recently so they have the pool to go after Rocker + someone that might slip. Joyce and Misiorowski have been on my radar, the latter more so due to starter potential. Imagine if the guy fills out? 100 mph average velo with a wipeout slider :naughty:
Definitely in the same camp on Miz. He also has great extension and spin rates on the heater which make it even deadlier. He's ranked right around where our 2nd and comp picks are so there's a chance he's there if we're interested. How risk averse are you to guys like Pallette and Reggie Crawford who were injured and have short track records but top 10 type ability?

I'm gonna duck out because I don't want to be hit by any flying champagne corks.

I will say they shouldn't forget the hitting coach.

The jacket, the gatoraid pours, etc. is great for teams who actually win something.

The Jays should win. Then celebrate with champagne, fireworks, cheerleaders, jackets, gatoraid, parades, etc.

Just win. Stop this nonsense that they've somehow achieved something. The Jays are my team, but they look like fools: in the standings, celebrations, etc.

Anyway, on with business. Let's turn this around. The season isn't lost yet.

Blue Jays aren't the only team that does this. Boston pushes the guy who hit a home run in a shopping cart, the Angels have a cowboy hat they wear after a homerun. Every team has something, you better start coming to terms with it, as I doubt these celebrations are going away.

I don't want to celebrate someone losing his job because he was a nice guy. But this move had to be done and we need a better tactical manager with the talent we have.
Agreed. Charlie really seems like the guy they should have hired to be the bench coach and not the manager. Great guy in the wrong role

Can't forget that O's chain lmao. They're all second rate compared to the jacket though.

I love the Red Sox home run celebration lmao. It looks like the guys have the time of their lives when they do it.

Good riddance on Montoyo. Great guy but god awful manager. I'm curious to see if they target a long term replacement in season or just let Schneider run with it for the rest of the year.

Change was needed imo. I'm honestly surprised they actually pulled the trigger, but glad they did. I wonder if Vladdy kinda going at Charlie over that botched challenge last night was the final, final straw. Vladdy told him "no don't challenge it, i missed the bag" and he did it anyway, and then didn't have a challenge for a call they could have overturned immediately after.

Absolutely big on Pallette. If they take him or Prielipp I think they're better off than when they got Hoglund (and I was still happy about the Hoglund pick).

Will things change very much with the Bench Coach taking over?
Seems to me not much will change.

Yes. Quite.

Let's not forget the teams who have real celebrations and real achievements. They celebrate with Champagne, Parades, etc. Something I can't come to terms with because I don't see it here. I see it in other cities. I only see it here when someone catches a pop-fly, bunts, gets a walk, etc. Heck! In TOR they pour gatorade on someone after they make a base hit.

Just because someone is your boss doesn't mean you would do everything the same way. Have a pretty good example of that in Toronto with the Raptors. Just have to wait and see really.

Can you show me where they poured Gatorade on some after a base hit, that wasn't a game-winning hit?
Please use factual events instead of made-up ones if you are going to criticize them.

Anyway, is Schneider confirmed to be the manager for the rest of the season? I saw it on the tweet, but I think TSN seemed to indicate that might not be the case, though I could have misheard them.

No. I'm using exaggerated color to describe how the jacket has extended into other types of celebrations. No I have no link or proof. What I do see is losing and whole lot of celebrating.

Schneider will be the guy the rest of the way.

Makes sense. The MLB has some pretty stringent protocol for hiring managers as I understand so it makes sense just to go with someone else in the org already.

Every team does it the same way. Is Phil Nevin qualified to be a manager? No, but the Angels are probably rolling with him the rest of the way regardless.

Possibly. The bullpen was poorly managed but the Jays still won.

The problem is the hitting. These are high contact, 300 AVG types hitting 100 on a routine, prolonged basis with just a couple exceptions. And the clutch hitting we saw at the beginning of the year has disappeared. It's obvious what's wrong, so it's a wonder they still keep going up their with rotten approaches. The only time the Jays raved about a hitting coach was Bichette. Maybe they should give him another round with the team.

Schneider would be an idiot to do things close to or in the same way that got the previous manager fired.

Nobody is going to come in and say yes, I want to copy him.
