Schneider would be an idiot to do things close to or in the same way that got the previous manager fired.

Nobody is going to come in and say yes, I want to copy him.
What I mean is if Montoyo brought in the bench coach wouldn't they be like minded, think the game the same way?

Will things change very much with the Bench Coach taking over?
Seems to me not much will change.
Assistant Coach Nick Nurse took over for fired Head Coach Dwayne Casey and the Raptors won a Championship.

Manager Jimy Williams was fired, and hitting coach Cito Gaston was hired and the Jays won 2 championships.

Yes, things can change a lot.

I admit I will miss him. But only for his good demeanour. He was well liked by the players but it translated to mediocre baseball. And of course it’s easier to fire a manager than 23 ball players. Hopefully this gives these players a good JOLT.

Winning is the ultimate happiness as fan of professional sports. Do you remember the 92-93 world series? That was awesome. There was a hell of a lot of celebrating. Do you remember?
Yes, I remember those World Series. I also remember that that was 29 years ago and that we've seen a handful of playoff teams since then.

If hooting and hollering causes Vladdy to play better, do it. If Bo prefers to be quiet, be quiet. I want wins, not to try to tell a professional what will make them perform better at something I can't do.

Was in the building when Carter hit the Home Run, never forget it. Hopefully I'll get the same experience at the SBA.

Celebrating after a win is fine, during the game IMO just makes guys lose focus.

What can't you do?

Absolutely big on Pallette. If they take him or Prielipp I think they're better off than when they got Hoglund (and I was still happy about the Hoglund pick).
As everyone here knows I was not a fan of Hoglund but at least the Jays were able to get value out of the pick in trade. Oakland has a unique ability to develop low to mid-upside arms into decent pitchers though (Bassit, Blackburn, Irvin) so he could surprise. I definitely like Pallette and Prielipp better in terms of upside. Pallette's curveball is a thing of beauty.

From what I've seen as a casual fan, he should have been fired over a year ago.

I don't follow the team as closely as I used to, but even from a more casual viewpoint, I can't remember a manager or coach for a Toronto team where I've been baffled by as many decisions as with Montoyo.

Speaking of casual, I also agree with some of the discussion that the team seems too loose and unfocused. Obviously that's from the outside and we can't really know. The truth is it wouldn't be much of an issue if the team was enjoying success, but it's not. While the roster isn't the manager's fault, the roster can't be fixed easily or quickly, and the manager certainly doesn't seem to be getting the most out of it.

Montoya seemed like a very laid back kinda guy much like a lot of da position players .. to me da real issue with Jays is pitching .. our relief was worst in BB last year and same this year except Romano .. but biggest difference is with our starters .. last year with Ray and Manoah we had 2 solid #1s and Matz was a solid 3/4 guy with Ryu as a 5th .. this year we got 1 solid #1 guy in Manoah and a couple solid 3/4 guys in Berrios and Gausman and a hurt 5 guy .. so to me it is pretty simple we downgraded starting pitching considerably and that lies in da 2 cheapskates from Cleveland .. and now these guys are scapegoating Montoya .. da truth hurts

Can only hope a different voice and the players playing like they can, pitchers like they can to somehow find a wild card position. Then anything can happen.

We got Gausman, who is pitching well, returned Manoah and re-signed Berrios.

Our BP is worse with basically all the same guys (for reasons beaten to death on here).

How is it scapegoating Charlie if he doesn't understand the concept of high-leverage? Or if he thinks that running Romano out there with a giant lead because he didn't bother to pitch him for a few days is a good thing?

The only thing he really had going was that the young guys liked and respected him and he's done things to piss off both Manoah and Vlad this year. IMO, regardless of anything else, not listening to Vlad tell him not to challenge (in a situation where he knew better than anyone else that it was stupid) is a much bigger problem than a minor mistake.

No doubt we need to upgrade pitching (especially in the pen) but little things like batting Tapia leadoff, over playing guys like Panik in years past, and waiting until pitchers completely blow up despite clearly not having their top stuff that day all are self induced wounds. That glare Guerrero gave Montoyo tells you all you need to know about the players feelings since Vlad is one of the easiest going players in the league.

Guasman and Berrios would be 4 guys on Yanks or Sox .. they are OK but not like last year when we had Ray and Manoah pitching we had 2 ACE stoppers in rotation .. Cleveland cheapos cost us a solid rotation .. Berrios we knew sh*t da bed every time he faced Sox and Yanks with Twins - he looked better against central opposition for sure but now he is in da east where da best ball gets played

So Gausman is pitching well.

Bad pitching got Charlie fired basically.
Nonsense.

Gausman leads baseball in fWAR and leads the AL by a wide margin. Ray, who got the same money, has given up .5 more on his ERA and his peripherals suggest that he's been about that.

And your "facts" about Berrios are blatantly false:

If you post that garbage in here again, I will report you for trolling since you post the same baseless crap in the TFC thread.
