Only quibble I have is I feel he whiffed on Domi. Our biggest need is Center, I'd have rather paid a 2nd for Domi than a 4th for Sundqvist.

We could have made the same deal for cheaper On Chicago's end. No need to retain, no need to send back players.

Unless they value Khudobin, it's a no Brainer.

Everything else could have played out the same.
I don’t like Domi. I have him in the same category a lot of people had Kadri.

Poolparty for nothing and Nino for a 2nd are the trades I would have liked to see MN have made. Big spending would be Horvat that I regret not getting.

Domi doesn't bother me. A Kap/Domi/Zucc line would be very small. Domi as a wing with Boldy is the same meh is MarJo as a wing with Boldy to me.
I think Domi could have done well as Boldys Center. That's the missed opportunity to me

I mean, I don't disagree on the personality... but Kadri was literally just instrumental in winning a cup....

So, I'd deal with it.

Nino would have been perfect opposite of Boldy.

Guerin certainly has a type. Kept Dumba, though probably not a lot of value there. Brought in guys like Johansson, Sundqvist though Klingberg is a bit of a mystery but could be just with the Ducks. Shipped off Greenway. Might ship out Addison.

Anyone saying it's about cap isn't really correct.

Sometimes you need a guy who could take his skate off at any moment and try to stab an opposing player.

This is you just looking for a fight.

No it's not. I've been saying this for awhile. He looks great with players better than him, but is invisible without them. He can make some passes, but can't shoot. He can finish around the net, but so can most NHLers.

He has 5p 5v5 in the last 41 games. I beat on the Addison is useless 5v5 drum, and he has the same number of points and he was pressboxed. Greenway was run out of town and he had 5p in the same timespan. There is whining about Reaves being useless and he has 8p in that timeframe.

It's actually pretty bonkers looking at the individual 5v5 shooting percentages last year vs. this year.

Other than Kaprizov's which actually is up by 0.7%, pretty much all of the notable forwards have taken pretty massive hits:

Foligno 18% vs. 8.5%
Zuccarello 16% vs. 8.7%
Hartman 15.7% vs. 10.8% (hey, not too bad)
Boldy 14.1% vs. 6.6%
Gaudreau 12.5% vs. 7%
Eriksson Ek 7.2% vs. 5.5%
Greenway 6% vs. 1.7% before he left

It's a team epidemic/pandemic at this point. Obviously you'd want somebody with Boldy's skill to be bucking this trend, but I'd be more critical if he a) was more of an outlier on the team, and b) if he was more experienced. The goals are more on him, but this is where the 4 5v5 assists number comes from.

The same thing could have been said about Greenway who people wanted punted into the sun.

If you look at the on-ice GF/GA numbers the numbers get ever worse for Boldy. Boldy/Steel/Freddy G started off well. After Steel was taken away (5 games IIRC) any line Boldy has been on has been invisible for scoring. The last 57 team games (100 min filter) Boldy has the same on-ice 1.29 GF/60 rate as Rossi did in his 12 games. The only FWD with a lower rating is Dewar. If it's just total on-ice GF Boldy (16) the only FWDs with less are Rossi (3), Shaw (10), Dewar (11), Reaves (12), and Duhiame (13).

Dewar and Shaw are fringe NHLers to me. Rossi isn't a NHL player. Reaves is an old face puncher. Duhaime has been injured, but is a 4th liner. This is not good company to be for a top-6 FWD.

This is kind of the point. It applies to basically everybody.

But to one player more than the rest. The soon to be 2nd highest paid FWD on the team, who is immune from criticism.

Lines With/without Boldy GF/60 (for as little player crossover as possible):
Kap: with (144 mins) 0.83, without (823 mins) 2.91
JEE: with (207 mins) 1.16, without (552 mins) 1.85
Freddy G: with (364 mins) 1.98, without (367 mins) 2.12
Dewar: (43 mins) 0.00, without (503 mins) 1.31

Just to throw Steel in because I mentioned him earlier:
-Boldy with Steel: 109 mins, 3.3 GF/60, 6 total on ice GF.
-Boldy without Steel: 697 mins, 1.2 GF/60, 14 total on ice GF.
-Steel without Boldy: 573 mins, 2.51 GF/60, 24 total on ice GF.

So he’s the worst player on the team. That’s a bummer.
