Didn't bother with salary since all are pending UFAs.

In:
Klingberg (50%)
Johansson
Nyquist (50%)
Sundqvist
'23 2nd
'23 5th
'24 5th
'25 4th

Out:
Greenway
Sustr
Nesterenko (rights)
Pillar
Svetlakov
'23 4th
'23 5th
'24 3rd
'25 4th
So in regards to draft picks, it does feel like essentially we moved up from the 4th round to the 2nd round when all things considered.

I do have kto withdraw my "imagination of a Q-tip" comment. Playing Cap Banker for a week to grab some extra mid-round picks, and then spending similar picks on guys like Nyquist and Klingberg is pretty slick.

You’ve got to debit/credit the picks we received in the retained salary transaction.

If you look prior to the retained salaries, we really only lost Greenway + Nesterenko + 3rd + 4th and received Nyquist, Sundqvist, MoJo, Klingberg, 2nd, and 5th.

Edit: I see you made the correction.

Yeah they basically bought Klingberg and Nyquist with cap space.

For not making one huge splash, there are definitely some nice potential pieces here: 2023 2nd, Klingberg and Nyquist most of all IMO.

Not sure how far this gets us but if the new guys can mesh and find a role, team could actually win a round or two. And he didn't give up any 1sts, 2nds or good prospects for it. On the whole, it was a good deadline.

Acquired and flipped:
'23 5th (Boston)
'25 4th (unknown whether the one going out is TOR's or MIN's)
So basically improved their draft stock while trading Greenway and a few fairly irrelevant prospects for Klingberg, Johansson, Nyquist, Sundqvist, and Reaves. That's something.

Still miss that top 1C though.
Can we have McDavid between Kap & Zucc please? Oh boy...

That’s the dream, he will be UFA after our buyouts expire, if the Oilers continue to falter, maybe things get to the point where he wants to move on. Extremely unlikely, but even Gretzky was traded. Kap and McDavid together would be something truly special.

This team's mascot should be a donut.

Well done by Billy this trade deadline. A bunch of Vets for not much draft capital and no top prospects. Greenway contract out for a 2nd is great. Very interested with the Klingberg move hopefully he can make a difference. As of right now getting relativley high picks while still being competitive.

2020 1st round pick, (2) 2nd round picks
2021 (2) 1st round picks, 2nd round pick
2022 (2) 1st round picks, (2) 2nd round picks
2023 1st round pick, (2) 2nd round picks....As of right now

I think next year will be a down year and Folingo and Hartman could be gone at the deadline but with the extra cap space from the Greenway deal who knows?

I'm still very much not sold on MarJo from his past stint, but if he continues to play like he did last game I'll eat some crow. All things considered though, I'm incredibly pleased with the moves Big Balls has made this week. None of them propel us into Cup contenders (but honestly, you never know), but at the same time I do think we are a better team and we didn't lose any significant assets. Well done Mr. Balls, we'll done.

Edit: I am a bit buzzed at the moment, please tell me we used to refer to Guerin as Billy Big Balls.... otherwise this post is going to be a little weird.

One could argue it took big balls to make a post like this buzzed.
And then all is well in the world :).

As someone that might be known as a Guerin "hater" (I'd disagree with that), I'll just go on record saying that I really like what he did this TDL and the days before. Nice job.

We did. You're safe.

Only quibble I have is I feel he whiffed on Domi. Our biggest need is Center, I'd have rather paid a 2nd for Domi than a 4th for Sundqvist.

We could have made the same deal for cheaper On Chicago's end. No need to retain, no need to send back players.

Unless they value Khudobin, it's a no Brainer.

Everything else could have played out the same.

Poolparty for nothing and Nino for a 2nd are the trades I would have liked to see MN have made. Big spending would be Horvat that I regret not getting.

Domi doesn't bother me. A Kap/Domi/Zucc line would be very small. Domi as a wing with Boldy is the same meh is MarJo as a wing with Boldy to me.
