The team is back to relying on Shesterkin to win games because they can't finish. But hey, I think we're in like 3rd or so place when it comes to medium danger chances over the season so we're generating something. We generated some high danger chances last night but couldn't bury them. That's kinda' been the story so far this season.

Maybe it was an anomaly but Panarin was stiffer in the 3rd period and actually went deep in the zone for board battles and went closer to the net rather than staying along the half walls.

I wish Trocheck was a little more skilled. He carries the puck up the neutral zone which is something we lacked and he hustles his ass off unlike other players, but he's just missing that extra gear to put him in a higher tier category. A real shame because he's a very likable player on your team and seems like a player you want to see be a star.

So what did the fancy stats say? Last season when they were winning all I heard was, "but the fancy stats say they're not good!" So, why isn't everyone ecstatic about fancy stats? Is it because actually scoring goals and actually stopping goals is more important that colorful charts?

Stats say we should've blown them out and instead we needed an empty netter as the gwg against another team that should be in the lottery at the end of the year, plus the game almost went to it bc the team laxed and Igor had to save their ass at the buzzer? Yeah, screw those stats that said we played pretty well and the eye test confirmed and they hit 3 posts. They outshot and out chanced an opponent basically for 59:40 and they won. Who cares damnit. Those last 20 seconds were like really bad.

I don't see the problem with that win. Shit happens at the end of the game. We f***ing caved that team in all game. Should we have scored more, yeah, but the team played hard. They went were they needed to go and didn't stop after the first. That's a good game, with only a slight downside that we didn't score 5.

The Sharks had a couple of surefire chances but their finishing ability is as bad as ours. You want to talk about puck luck on our side for once? One of their guys had an open net tap in but his stick exploded on him. So yeah the fancy stats said we dominated, but we don't make it easy on ourselves by not finishing. It's nearing a quarter of a season. Somehow, our shooting is just being unlucky.

They do not make it easy. That's for damn sure. They probably should have scored 5 goals as they had numerous chances and hit 3 posts. It was basically a rerun of most of the games this year. I hope fancy stats and PDO are accurate in predicting more goals and wins as the season moves along.

Personally, I think the games are boring (small concern, but it is an entertainment product) and the kids aren't doing anything (big concern). The guys are almost all healthy, which is worth mentioning alongside how we aren't getting the breaks in other ways since there are teams like Washington that are missing 5 major players, but I'm still not that fussed about being .500 or a wild card spot or wherever we are this early.
