Winter is Coming
So is it Pettersson? Is he pissy he wasn't named captain?

Malcontent is irrelevant. Whoever player is will get a shot with his new team... what he did b4 doesn't matter

Pettey would still get a nice haul
Miller would get a 1st plus top prospect easy
Boeser would also

Regardless of WHO the problem is

PS his drafting is nothing special he has a few hits and a few misses in the top ten which really hurt. 8 years and he hasn't drafted a Dman besides Hughes who were using in our top 4.

Don't like Benning, wouldn't want him as our GM (and we have Bergevin lol)

But his 1st round picks - Podkolzin, Hughes, Pettersson, Boeser, Horvat - Juolevi, Virtanen.

Virtanen -> could have taken Fleury or Honka - neither are great.

Juolevi -> In hindsight, Sergachev is the better pick, but Juolevi at the time was a top prospect, and the only other pick that would have really helped them is Tkachuk.

5 hits, 2 misses - not bad at all.

Which player is the cancer?

TBH I don’t think there is a locker room cancer, the players on the team seem friendly with each other and hangout in their free time. The media is a cancer and likes to stir things up a bit to get attention for themselves. I think Miller could be keeping players accountable for a lack of effort and play but we don’t have fights breaking out at practices or a divided lock room. A lot of our issues is around our coaches not knowing how to do their job and players likely not having trust in the management group with how guys like Toffoli, Edler, Tanev and Markstrom were treated.

Horvat was a Gillis pick.
Benning wanted Glass over Pettersson and Trevor Linden (president at the time) intervened to make the pick.

I think if you look at all the young players the Canucks have lost for nothing, it's more telling on Benning's ability to evaluate young talent. We gave up on Forsling, McCann, Dahlen, Kassian, etc. because Benning is terrible at evaluating talent.

Ehlers was the consensus next best pick at the time, even ahead of Virtanen.

Just because someone wants someone and then drafts the other player doesnt make them a bad talent evaulator. If you going to shit on his talent evaluation at least be reasonable

Forsling on his 3rd team and cleared waivers 2 season ago
McCann has been traded 4 times now and is on his 3rd team
Kassian went to drug rehab after he left Vancouver
Dahlen went back to Sweden for 2 seasons came back over at 25 and is playing top minutes on Sanjose, We also got Karlsson in that trade who is a PPG player in last his last 9 games in the SHL at the age of 22

Not its 0 hits because all those hits are Brackett picks and all the Misses are Benning picks :sarcasm:

I think you msised the point but it was that Benning didn't want Pettersson. He wanted Glass. And Glass looks like a bust. That's it.

Forsling on his 3rd team and cleared waivers 2 season ago

So because other teams also make mistakes, Benning is absolved? Dumb red herring argument .

McCann has been traded 4 times now and is on his 3rd team

The last trade was just expansion draft-related. Once again, see my answer above. He's a good player and has had promising development.
Kassian went to drug rehab after he left Vancouver

Yeah, because the guy we traded him for - Brandon Prust - was of such high moral character. Oh yeah, we lost a 5th round pick too. Benning is such a dope.

Dahlen went back to Sweden for 2 seasons came back over at 25 and is playing top minutes on Sanjose, We also got Karlsson in that trade who is a PPG player in last his last 9 games in the AHL at the age of 22

Dahlen left because our AHL coaching is absolute shit and his development was getting derailed. He made the right call as he's doing great outside our tire fire organization. Linus Karlsson hasn't played an AHL game to-date, you obviously have no idea what you are talking about.

Are you just a bot that randomly generates excuses to defend Benning? You're defending an incompetent moron; it will always be a losing battle for you.

If Benning makes a trade now it will most likely be an attempt to salvage a playoff spot this season, and not a trade for futures.

I mean young roster players/prospects are technically just more advanced, safer futures. Im all for getting guys in there mid 20's that are under club control

Hour 1: Frank Seravalli reacts to Canucks' poor start (sportsnet.ca)

" do not think that a trade is not on the table, I was shocked to hear that today, does that mean Benning is safe?"
-Shah on the Peoples Show on Sportsnet 650

According to Sat Shah of Sportsnet 650, Benning has been working the phone a tonne and has a green light to make any trades. Shah also indicated that Benning has targeted that there might be a "cancer" in the locker room that is effecting the team chemistry. Benning is trying to save his job and thinks that the chemistry/cancer is the problem with the team and is vigorously trying to move the player.

In all honesty if there was a "cancer in the locker room " id say the most viable candidate is JT Miller. The young guys might not be reacting well to his "passionate" demeanor.
The only cancer is Benning himself.

My vote is Petterson being the black sheep. Not sure his comments during the contract negations made him popular with management. And on top he’s looked like a shell of his former self so far.

Rangers can definitely help out Benning and his “cancer” lol
Petey actually saved his job in 2019. Trading him would make things worse with the fans. Miller is the most likely to get traded and Miller has been Jimbo's home run trade. He got Schmidt for almost nothing and gave him away for even less.

Call his old friend Treliving

they can trade busts and depth players and pretend they are working hard
Jim wants to build the Flames even more. He did not do enough for them in 2020. They need more help.

What a mess the team was suppose to be better this year. The fanbase has grown inpatient with Benning and 8 years of losing.

Not necessarily if teams are valuing Petey based on year 1-2 the haul should be excellent. If they value him on the last 40 games then it wont be as good. Nothing less then a young C who is a top9 C right now top 6 potential and a RHD who is a top 4 Dman for Petey.

Example would Hischer and Seversson for Petey

He got Schmidt for a 3rd and traded him for a 3rd that statement is false.
