Weird that those just now dropped a few days before the game. But from that very quick look, I really like them! Reminiscent in some ways of some of the nicest old NHL ASG uniforms, except in most excellent colors.
Pretty nice looking!

Probably not the best look for us that we've still got so many seats still available at our little barn for this event. Quite a few tickets still available and the game is on Monday.

Strong start tonight. 2-0 Cuda after the first period, though we're already 0 for 2 on the PP. Goals from Todd and Rau.

Defensive pairings are actually Muk-Gawanke, Knyzhov-Laroque, Pulli-Frisch.

End of two. Cuda still up 2-0. Had a few rough turnovers early on, but they've contained Abbotsford pretty well thus far.

Todd got robbed on a 2-on-1, though I think he took a little bit too much time with the puck once he received it.

does Mukhamadullin look noticeably different compared to before the call up?

Oh, now that's rough. Tanner Kaspick wins the draw in the defensive zone, Raty skates past him and catches Kaspick's stick in the face, right on the faceoff. That's a four minute double minor and this is a huge kill with nine minutes to go.

Edit: They kill it. I have to say, this is my first time seeing the Canucks this season and it does not seem like they're clicking tonight.

Cuda hold on and win, 2-1 over Abbotsford.

I can't figure out our goalies, man. It looked like Chrona was the only one who might be semi-decent and I was scared to death when he went down to injury. In the past week, Makiniemi turned in a 37-save shutout against Calgary, and now Romanov with 30 saves in this one. Should've had a shutout if not for that fluky goal above.

Really wasn't a defensive clinic, we had some of our usual breakout issues but I'm going to go out on a limb and say the Canucks didn't have their A-game tonight on offense.

Back at it in Abbotsford tomorrow night,

Same personnel tonight, including Romanov starting again. Makiniemi likely just still not feeling well. Only change is that they've flipped the centers on lines 1 and 2.

Ethan Cardwell gets a deflection on a Bordeleau shot to give the Barracuda an early 1-0 lead.

If another Barracuda player gets a callup as a reward for his AHL play, I could see it being Nathan Todd. He's had a great weekend and is near PPG since 2024 started (13 in 15GP). He just sprung Sabourin for a breakaway on a beautiful stretch pass, Sabourin shot it wide. Todd's never played in the NHL before.

End of the first, still 1-0. Barracuda might be disappointed at that scoreline, they had a bunch of chances after Cardwell scored.

Canucks are trying their best to muddy this game up, they've been pretty physical. Barracuda are going onto their first power play when this game resumes because Matt Irwin (yes, that Matt Irwin) just got called for interference on a total cheapshot on Bordeleau.

The Barracuda score on their second power play, clever little play by Cassels, who sort of hides for a bit, then sneaks into a hole in their defense and puts in a one timer. 2-0 Cuda.

--

Cuda follow that up by immediately getting sloppy in the defensive zone and giving the Canucks a minute and a half long 5 on 3 power play. Which they almost kill off, but Linus Karlsson scores with about 15 seconds left on the two man advantage. 2-1 Cuda.

Nick Cicek ties it up. I have to admit that was one heck of a setup from Bains. 2-2.

And now, Frisch gets called on an interference call which was a little bit of a headscratcher for me. The Canucks forward just sort of skated into him and ran him over. But, the Canucks score on the ensuing power play. Cuda are coming a little unglued here after what had been a pretty solid half-game.

3-2 Canucks, end of the second. I think Jett Woo just took a penalty at the end of the period. Someone did, anyway, off-camera.

Cicek from Bains:

Under a minute to go, still the same score. Barracuda haven't really threatened to score all period.

Sabourin takes a cross-checking penalty to basically end things. Nollenberger calls it a tough call, I'd call it a joke. Refereeing tonight has been absolutely god-awful.

That's your final, after a strong start from the Cuda they fall apart for ten minutes in the second period and take the loss 3-2. This team is nothing short of infuriating, though tonight I've got some extra rage to direct at the officials.
