Guryev's antagonizing after every whistle right now.

Cuda get nothing going on yet another power play. 0 for 5 on the night.

Colorado then just dumps it out of the zone with Makiniemi pulled and it goes into the net. 6-3.

Marek does score late to cut the score to 6-4, but other than some more post-whistle antics from Guryev, that's all she wrote from Colorado.

We're past the halfway point of the season, and rather than working on getting back into the picture on this road trip, it feels like the season just went completely off the rails this month. Nine straight without a win. The PK is hemorrhaging goals. Chrona's possibly hurt, and our other two goalies aren't exactly reliable.

I would love for the org to get healthy, so that we can maybe get some guys back, but we're starting to reach the point where there might be no saving this season. I mean, already. It's January. That's ridiculous.

I usually don't mention McCarthy just because I'd probably become a broken record, but if AHL coaches didn't have quite so much job security, he would've been gone weeks ago. Just an utter disaster of a half season for what should've been a solid team of players.

Weird article. This seems to be his main argument:

Regardless of the nice snippets of seasons, the development of other prospects hasn't gone to plan. Thomas Bordeleau can't get into a good spot on the wing or center. Ozzy Wiesblatt, now injured, is looking like a bad first-round pick. He could barely stay in the lineup, whether by coach's decision or suspension.

The Sharks can't afford to have failed development at an AHL level. William Eklund spent last season in the AHL before becoming an NHLer this year. It looks like that is the plan with Shakir Mukhamadullin and more.

Okay? The two guys you just listed in the second paragraph are doing fine.

He mentions multiple guys having good seasons before this section (Gushchin, Mukhamadullin, Cardwell) and then lists Bordeleau and Wiesblatt and says "we can't have this"? I mean, Wiesblatt just is what he is, and he's injured right now anyway. I'm not sure Bordeleau is going to progress much more past his current level, and at the very least he's learned better habits this season.

If you want to look at moving on from McCarthy because we can't win games, that's legit and I agree with it. I was pretty sure the idea was to start a winning culture at the AHL level, and what we've got going is the opposite of that. Us losing games is not causing anyone's development to fail, though.

Also, please don't hire Patrick Marleau as our next coach.

Hard agree with everything in this post.

Marleau should have absolutely no influence on this franchise other than teaching skating mechanics and fitness tips. Seriously, Marleau’s skating mechanics are so pretty, I’d love to see what he could do with someone like Quentin Musty.

Just posting this because I'm glad someone got Guryev's reaction to being put on the screen, starting at around 0:50. This guy is at least entertaining.

McCarthy had two and a half seasons as part of the AHL staff before becoming HC and he's not exactly performing well. I wouldn't go down the same route with Marleau. If he wants to be a real AHL or NHL coach, he needs to earn his stripes elsewhere. If he's satisfied with being a skills coach, he's right where he needs to be.

Mankiniemi starting.

For those calling for McCarthy's ouster, how much better would the Barracuda record be if the Cuda depth wasn't recalled to the NHL due to their injuries?

Fairly good period from the Cuda, but with two defensive miscues that wind up in our net. 2-0 Condors after one. Not an uncommon story with this team.

All things considered, that’s the best period I’ve seen this team play in a while. 3-2 after two periods. Shots are 29-20 SJ. Goalies seeing a lot of rubber tonight.
