With bonus Viel mention.

Denisenko was suspended for the hit on Simek that caused him to leave yesterday's game with an injury. The hit actually happened before Simek laid out Brisson, so I just missed it entirely. Kept looking for what happened in the post-goal scrum.

Simek will be out of the lineup, replaced by Pulli tonight. Wiesblatt is also in for Kemp.

I guess they're lagging on the usual lines tweet. Defensive pairs have been switched up too.
Mukhamadullin-Pulli
Knyzhov-Gawanke
Guryev-Frisch

Forward lines are the same as yesterday, just a straight swap of Kemp out for Wiesblatt.

Mukhamadullin takes a spill behind the net and turns it over, which leads to an HSK goal right at the end of the first. 2-1, end of the period.

Henderson started putting on more pressure towards the end of the one, so I'm hoping this isn't another one of those games where the Cuda start hot and then slowly deflate as time goes on.

Seems like Cardwell has earned himself a call up at this point.
I'm just happy that my somewhat irrational expectations for him as a pro are starting to come to life!

Now, I've never expected him to be more than a bottom six guy, but he seems to have a combination of hockey sense, willingness to grind, and skill to maybe actually make that a reality. We'll see, but dammit if I'm not proud of him for getting to this place so soon.

He just always seems to be in the right place on the ice, and there's something to be said for that.

Not a great start for this period, but it's still 2-1 halfway through. Barracuda have taken four minor penalties and haven't registered a shot on goal in it so far. We only have 6 so far in the game.

Edit: Urgh. 2-2. Not sure what Pulli or Mukhamadullin were doing on that play:

I actually have no idea about much of what happened after that, Henderson left their screen saver on for a bit and then the feed froze with three minutes to go, during which time the scorebug actually took one of our goals off the board, because why not. Henderson is no stranger to technical difficulties.

Let's just say that was not a good period. Shots are 20-9 Henderson. score is 2-2 after two.

Aaand the Knights score late. Gage Quinney makes it 3-2 with 3:31 to go. Unfortunate sequence that then just turned into another defensive breakdown.

Basically Marek refused to touch the puck at mid-ice because it would've been called a hand pass, Henderson finally takes it, skates the other way and scores. Mukhamadullin changed off during the hand pass standoff, so there was nobody back on defense:

And, yep, that's your final. After the first ten minutes, that was just bad in most facets from us..

It's an unusual back to back, we're @ Bakersfield tonight, and then Bakersfield comes here for a game tomorrow.

Turns out no Laroque.

I assume the lines above are just written in a weird order, because that doesn't make any kind of sense otherwise. Peterson and Lindblom both returning after long layoffs.

The two teams trade power plays early. We come up with nothing on ours, they score with 3 seconds remaining on theirs. 1-0 Condors.

Gawanke answers right back to make it 1-1 on our first shot on goal.

End of the first, 1-1 still. Pretty meh start for the Cuda. Been two fights already (Frisch-Kambeitz and Sabourin-Peters), though the Cuda didn't seem to particularly want to engage in either one. Still taking a while for them to get the puck out of the defensive zone.

Makiniemi's rebound control continues to make me nervous.

Cuda have 1:11 remaining on a power play when the 2nd begins.

Makiniemi lets in a weird one. 2-1 Condors. It was deflected but it still looked like he should've had it.

Gushchin then immediately takes a double minor for high sticking.

And, our old friend Lane Pederson scores on the first half of the double minor after a rebound bounces right to him. 3-1. This has been a disastrous minute or so.

3-1 after two periods.

Condors defense is tough to break down. They really gum up the middle of their zone and don't let us get very many clean shots off. Our power play is not producing a whole lot tonight, either.

Gushchin snipes one to make it 3-2!

Ref waved it off when it happened and we played on for about a minute and a half after that, but on review, it's a good goal.
