Barracuda are now 2-0 in the Kyle Rau era. He got his first point tonight, a secondary assist on the empty netter. But they're using him in all situations. PP1, PK, top line. So he's out there a lot right from the jump.

Multi-point games for Todd (1G 2A), Cassels (1G 1A), Simek (2A).

Game reminded me of some of the old Cuda vs. Stockton matchups. Lots of penalties, lots of after the whistle stuff. Genuinely liked the way we played in both games, though. Thought we kept Calgary's chances to a minimum. Strong weekend for Mukhamadullin.

Marek gets his second of the night on a good feed from Kemp, but Tucson almost immediately equalizes. 3-3. Goals were 16 seconds apart.

Guryev takes a boarding penalty, Tucson scores on the power play. Been a rough night for Guryev.

Common theme this game. Bordeleau scores on an innocent looking shot, but Tucson just answers right back a minute later on a rebound. 6-4.

Phantom tripping call on Tucson. Sabourin cleans up the rebound on a Muk point shot, it’s 6-5. 9:25 to go.

Well your final is 8-6 Roadrunners. Sabourin gets called on what looked like a dive to me with under a minute to go and Tucson gets one more on that PP.

Makiniemi could've been better. Defense definitely could've been better. Knyzhov had a bad turnover that led to a goal late, surprisingly. Please split that first line up for next game, though. Gushchin-Rau-Wiesblatt is just not working.

Multi-point games for: Mukhamadullin/Sabourin (1G 2A each), Marek (2G), Gawanke (1G 1A), Kemp/Cassels (2A each)

Shak’s last 7 games:
- 3 goals
- 8 assists
- 15 SOG
- +6

The big man is feeling it.

Slight correction, 3 goals 7 assists. Doesn't change a thing about your conclusion, though. Muk is on fire lately. He's got 17 pts in 24 GP this season, and this stretch accounts for 10 of them. He's definitely looking to shoot more as of late, and he should. His shot is a laser.

Gawanke's also PPG over his past 13 games, with five points in his last three games.

McCarthy split the two of them up mid-game tonight, presumably to spread the scoring around. Think we'll see a different look on defense Friday.

Hopefully we trade Ferraro and waive Burroughs or Rutta soon after the roster freeze. I want to see what Shak and Gawanke can do in the NHL.

Same, I’d love for true post-deadline part of the season to be a bit of a showcase for what we have in guys like Shak, Gawanke, give Guschin a longer look, etc.

End of second, still 2-0. Knights are starting to get a few chances after the Cuda had been pretty much shutting them down all night. HSK got a penalty shot towards the end of the period, but Chrona made the save. Knights have actually had some of their best chances on SJ's power plays.

Guryev had a rough first half of yesterday's game, but this one has been his best showing of the season so far.

Henderson scores on a power play to make it 2-1.

Their third period strategy seems to be to create a lot of traffic in front of Chrona.

Something to watch, there was a big scrum after the goal, after Simek had a big hit on Brisson earlier that shift. Roughing minors to Simek and Brisson, but Kemp served the Simek penalty. Injury situation?
